OfflineIt’s important, but not every fitness app actually needs it.
If your app only tracks steps, workouts, or general wellness data, HIPAA usually doesn’t apply. But the moment you start handling personal health information like medical records, doctor communication, or anything tied to a healthcare provider, then HIPAA becomes a serious requirement.
From what I’ve seen, many teams miss this early on and run into problems later. That’s why a good fitness app development company will first figure out what kind of data your app handles and whether compliance is needed before starting development.
Even if HIPAA isn’t required, users still expect strong privacy and security. So things like secure logins, data encryption, and clear privacy policies still matter.
