For my volunteer position abroad, I had to get a criminal background check apostilled from Ottawa. I wasn’t sure about the process, but background check ottawa guided me perfectly. It explained how to apply locally and then authenticate the check for international acceptance. Following that advice made everything smooth.

first obtain an original police record check from the Ottawa Police Service, then submit it to Global Affairs Canada for apostille authentication, as Canada now follows the Hague Apostille Convention. Make sure the document is official (not a photocopy) before applying.
