It looks like people from outside of Great Britain missed out on an extraordinary video game magazine back in the day. However, the secret’s out. What are your thoughts on Super Play Magazine?

Ah yes, without a doubt my favourite gaming mag of all time. I still have about 10 issues somewher in my room and probably more somewhere in the garage or loft. I still glance through them from time to time and the quality of presentation is superb. I love the layout and design, its very simple yet very informative at the same time. I remember at the time thta this was pretty much the only mag that would keep you up to date on imports and manga and stuff, It also boasts some amazing covers.

Best gaming mag.. Ever (in the tone of Comic-Book guy)laugh

I definitely am going to seek out this magazine in the future. I’m just surprised I hadn’t heard of it until this year.

Just to reiterate to all our newest members, this magazine was the best of it’s time and is well worth tracking down.

To me they are priceless. A quick search reveals the price of these has gone up since last I checked. Individual issues go for anywhere between around $5 – $15 depending on condition or issue number.

This person is selling 35 issues along with the ltd edition binder. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SNES…..3f220f7207

Yes they are worth it, if you have the cash handy that auction would save a lot of time & hassle.

It’s nice to see something that GB had over the US. Cannot believe SP Mag didn’t go stateside if I’m honest.

I always thought that Nintendo Power made a decent magazine back in the day.

I’ve started collecting these magazines. I have four of them now. They are a great alternative to Nintendo Power. It has a different vibe from any other video game magazine I have read.

What are the prices like on them?  Nintendo Power prices have sky-rocketed!

Now playing: SNES - Phalanx, R-Type III, Genesis - Bio Hazard Battle, PS3 - Dragon's Crown

Not sure, about $5 to $10 + postage per mag I suppose if your going for individual issues. I can only imagine these going up in price though as they appear to be very highly regarded by all who have read them.
