Now, the boundary-pushing Swiss brand has turned its attention to its dive watch collection to create a dive watch that has never been seen before. The new Ulysse Nardin Diver Air is the lightest mechanical dive watch in the world, with a watch head weighing just 46 grams. That’s about the weight of two AA batteries. The Diver Air weighs less than half as much as the brand’s already-light Diver X Skeleton high quality fake watches, and the brand found some rather novel ways to shave some weight off.

The movement is a new automatic caliber, the UN-374, a modified version of the Diver X Skeleton’s UN-372. UN’s engineers removed as much material as possible from the UN-372, while reshaping the bridges to be slimmer and more triangular to maintain structural integrity. Titanium was chosen for the movement’s construction, a first for the brand, and lightweight silicon is used for the balance wheel, hairspring, and escapement.

The case is also incredibly lightweight, made from a mix of titanium, CarbonFoil upgraded carbon fiber, and Nylo-Foil, a composite material made from upgraded carbon fiber and recycled fishing nets. The strap is an ultra-light elastic fabric. Even the caseback is made from mineral glass instead of sapphire because it’s a bit lighter. The front crystal is still sapphire to protect against scratches.

With a high level of magnetic resistance, shock resistance up to 5,000 Gs, and water resistance to 200 meters, the Ulysse Nardin Diver Air definitely doesn’t compromise its reputation as a tool watch despite being light as air.
