OfflineMy system and games have arrived and except for that the avenue controller doesnt actually work, the other stuff seem to, but i might have to clean them again as contact issues was a little bit of a problem..
Other than that, the TV shows the screen reasonably well for an LCD, and i felt its good enough so that was a relief. I tried the games i have, since i have an arcade stick since before, and it was definitely a “new” experience, since i havent played old school shootem ups in many years. Bomberman 94 was interesting, and the Nekketsu games were quirky as always. Im happy with my purchase overall, but i hope the shop wont be too difficult about sorting out that controller issue. Maybe they will just send me a replacement, we shall see.
So, ive finally joined the NEC ranks as well now. My console shelf still has room, but its starting to fill up nicely.

OfflineIm sure there will be systems available for whenever your ready, NEC stuff isnt going anywhere in that regard.
Oh and btw, the controller worked just fine. Silly i just tried to play a 2 button game in the 6 button setting option. The game did not like that! First PC-E newbie mistake so far.

LOL.
That’s funny. Welcome to the NEC world. I think that you’ll enjoy it. Definitely try to get a DUO if possible so that you can try out the many, many TG-16 and PC Engine CD games.

OfflineThe console comes bundled with R-Type I, Thunder Blade and some other game which I can’t read the name.. I also ordered a Turbo Everdrive straight away so I can try a bunch of games as soon as I get the console. Games I’d love to get are the Star Soldier series.. though they seem pricy. So I’ll enjoy them on my Everdrive until I get my hands of them.
I also wanted to try Legendary Axe, Neutopia, Bomberman94 and the Shubibinman series among others.
Isn’t Cho Aniki a CD game? (It seemed very weird from what I saw on youtube haha)

OfflineYes, I read it is the PC Engine version the TG-16 was based on when it was imported for the American market. It is a revision of the original white PC Engine.
Played some incredibly fun games and some horrible ones so far..
My only concern is that even though my console and its cables are in near mint condition (picture quality doesn’t show colors quite right..), the A/V cable is kind of loose when its plugged into the console and messes up the image when the console moves. The controller is very nice and I was surprised by the D-pad… At first I thought it’d suck but as it turns out, I like it a lot. On my controller, it feels like a smaller and flimsier genesis d-pad but it seems to work like a charm! Only draw back is the length of the controller’s cable.. it is short-ish and it often makes the console move a bit when I accidently pull it, making the image on screen go out.
I might try to get a brand new aftermarket A/V cable for my PC Engine and see if it is as loose as my original one when plugged into the console.
I highly recommend you to get a PC Engine since I know you enjoy games of that era. Games are cheaper than TG-16 ones and you can also take the Everdrive route before buying import games. The Everdrive is also very very nice. I haven’t experienced a single load time yet when selecting a game and there is a useful ‘reset’ button on the card which is a nice addition to the PC Engine because it lacks such a button for some odd reason.
