OfflineNintendo held a conference last month where they detailed much of their WiiU agenda. I was appalled at their online plans. Their games? If I ever get one I will get many of these, but I need more than MarioU to justify a purchase…
The Miiverse: The only way I could ever play a Wii U is to have it unplugged from the Internet because that is the only way I know how to turn off the MiiVerse. I don’t want this community shit I just want to play with my friends….That is ALL you need to do!!!
The Virtual Console: Seriously; Fuck you, Nintendo! WiiU’s VC plans make me furious. This is not the job I want the console to do. I just want the console to be a box that plays games THAT I OWN BECAUSE I ALREADY PAID FOR THEM!!! Still no account system, which tells me I’ll be paying for super Mario Brothers EVERY.FUCKING.TIME.A.NEW.CONSOLE.COMES.OUT!!! Worthless!!!!
3D Mario: Cool, but it’s not going to move hardware unless consumer habits have changed in the last twenty years (THEY HAVEN’T)
New Zelda: Aonuma admitting that the current Zelda Formula isn’t working is a step in the right direction, but honestly why does anyone still care about Zelda at this point? Even if you LIKE the puzzle/dialogue fest that is modern Zelda, games like Okami do it better. I have Dark Souls, so until Nintendo can make me care again i will just play that.
Though This DID make me laugh. It looks like Aonuma forgot this was conference day and someone threw a business coat over his hoodie! Are you fucking serious?!?! If I was Nintendo I would be Mortified! I know that this is nitpicky but In business appearance is important! If you are going to try and sell me a game, at least have the common sense to look the part…Pathetic!
Smash Brothers: Cool as this is, I have this for wii. Why do I need another one? Though this game DOES move hardware so this one is a positive. If I got a WiiU I would buy this game…..
Pikmin:
Am I missing something here?!? Is there a reason I would EVER want to play this? Everyone raves about this game yet I have not tried it at all! One things for sure: It will likely have the same effect that the first two had on the GC (NONE)
Bayonetta 2
Seeing how not that many people bought the first game, I don’t see this going anywhere. It’s a bad sign when so much of the game is focused on the sex appeal of the main character. The trailer ends with, “Do you want to touch me?” No thanks, I don’t do pixel!
SEQUEL TO XENOBLADE!!!!!
Now We are talking!!!!! If I ever get a WiiU this is a DAY ONE FOR ME! Xenoblade and Persona 4 are the strongest RPGs I have played in YEARS. It also performed well, but did nothing for hardware on the Wii…
Yoshi Yarn:
Will not sell WiiU’s but I would pick it up IF I ever got one.
So that’s my take anyway. Where are Mario kart? Another Donkey Kong Country? A New Sports Game?
Hopefully in the works……

OfflineNintendo is having another Nintendo Direct today. It might be 3DS only, but look out for any Wii U news. I won’t get worried unless they have a poor E3 showing. The console is too young to give up on. They also announced that they would reveal a Mario Kart at E3, so that should help.
Currently looking for the following SNES games:
Chrono Trigger
EarthBound
Final Fantasy II (Final Fantasy IV)
Secret of Mana
Illusion of Gaia
Super Castlevania IV
Super Mario RPG
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Zombies Ate My Neighbors
TMNT IV
Contra III

Offlinehonestly if they just had a diverse library like the Super Nintendo did I think they would be just fine.. they should recognize that people play retro games… Another thing is that people who have grown up on the Super Nintendo are older now. even really seeing a sequel to old school Super Nintendo games would be awesome… It might be niche, but I think people would really eat that stuff up

OfflineThe game console business is not easy. How many billions did Microsoft lose entering the market? And Sony wouldn’t be in the market today if it weren’t for their success with PlayStation (which was forced by Nintendo terminating their agreement). Apple has never faced such a market. Game consoles are nothing like cell phones or digital storefronts OR personal computers.
While Hardcore gamers may get excited about a Valve Steambox or an Apple console, I point to the graveyard of game consoles. These companies know this.
Let’s look at Steambox first:
Will Steam only exist on this new hardware?
If the answer is no, which I suspect it will be, then why should I buy the device? I already have a computer. I can buy Steam games on it. Why should I buy another expensive device if the same general software is available on the computer I already own?
Will Valve games only be able to be bought on the device?
Since the answer is likely to be no, then what reason does the consumer have to buy such a game console? Game consoles are driven by software… mostly software that can only be bought for that hardware. Super Mario Brothers, HALO, Grand Theft Auto 3 (for a while), Sonic, all of these pushed momentum into the hardware sales.
So the REAL question regarding Valve is whether or not they are ready go exclusive on a piece of hardware. Since that would be such a radical change for the company, I assume the answer remains no. And so instead of another REAL contender what we will get is another avenue for Valve to accumulate wealth. Nothing more.
On the Apple Front:
Is Apple Ready to go into game development?
(Being an investor, there is no guesswork here) If not an Apple console would be no different than a, Xbox or Playstation (Only more expensive. Apple products are never cheap) Apple would have to buy game companies for their First Party software. If not than any games that appeared on the Apple console would appear everywhere else. Apple’s approach to gaming is to create app stores and sell games for a dollar or give them away for free. This kind of commodity gaming is not how you act if you are interested in Games. Apple is not so much interested in Games as they are being a platform to PLAY games (like Itunes is a platform for music) Since this platform is already available to them to them, Apple has no interest in a console which is viewed as a costly and risky endeavor. One must also consider that Apple’s history is walking AWAY from the console, beginning with Atari leading to modern game consoles, and Apple leading to modern Personal Computers.
