Very exciting news!

I would love to see Atlus take a crack at Phantasy Star, Shining Force or even Golden Axe.

What SEGA IPs would you guys like to see Atlus work on?

Now playing: SNES - Phalanx, R-Type III, Genesis - Bio Hazard Battle, PS3 - Dragon's Crown

Definitely “Panzer Dragoon”, if it counts. That first game in the series for the Saturn looked beautiful, and I only wish I got to play any of them. (I did play those two shoot-em-up segments from “Sonic Adventure”, though, so maybe I have an approximation.)

Oh, and “Jet Grind Radio” also.

Panzer Dragoon is a great idea.  A follow-up to Panzer Dragoon Saga seems right up Atlus’ alley.

The shoot ’em up parts of Sonic Adventure aren’t really too much like the original Saturn Panzer Dragoon.  The closest analogue to Panzer Dragoon that comes to mind is Star Fox 64.  Notably, Panzer Dragoon had a lock-on mechanism first!

Oh yeah, “Star Fox 64”. I think that’s what I was thinking of.

See I always thought that Lock-On was a Star Fox innovation.

Panzer Dragoon Did it first!

As an aside, what about Toejam and Earl?!? I know that it isn’t their strong suit, but I think Atlus might have enough wierdness and talent to make it happen.

GROOVY…. Or is that Earthworm Jim?wink

Unfortunately, SEGA doesn’t own the rights to Toejam and Earl; the original creator does.  I believe Capcom is in a similar situation with Strider.

Re: the lock on mechanic, Panzer Dragoon came out almost 2 years before Star Fox 64, so it’s almost certain that Nintendo copied the mechanic rather than developing it simultaneously.  Just about every rail shooter since Panzer Dragoon has had some form of lock on.

Lastly, you’re right, groovy is Earthworm Jim’s catchphrase.  Toejam and Earl say “jammin”.

You know, I would like to see an updated Alex Kidd game that was done well. That IP had some potential though the games were hit or miss.

I don’t think Alex Kidd got a fair shake because of the popularity Sonic the Hedgehog garnered.

Agreed. Alex Kidd was tossed aside despite being the company mascot for many years. Sonic was good on the 8-bits but I think that in comparison, Alex Kidd’s 16-bit fare was atrocious in just about every way and not even a threat to anybody’s wallet by that stage. SMS Miracle World all the way! Great game that is still one of my fave platformers of all time.

Are Atlus still interested in SEGA’s inactive IP’s?
