A bit late with this one, bought Sega has outbid Nintendo to buy Atlus for approximately $141 million USD.

I am personally excited to see two of my favourite gaming companies come together.  Sega’s had a spotty history for sure, but their quality has improved in recent years.

I know its a longshot, but I would love to see an Atlus / Sega developed Phantasy Star, Skies of Arcadia or Shining Force game.

What are your thoughts on the acquisition?

Now playing: SNES - Phalanx, R-Type III, Genesis - Bio Hazard Battle, PS3 - Dragon's Crown

It’s better than Atlus going into oblivion, along with all their intellectual properties. Might be cool to see some type of cross-over games featuring Sega and Atlus characters.

Expect to see more of this type of thing more frequently in the future.

There is a part of me that would have liked to have seen Nintendo buy Atlus and watch the heads of many people explode.

This is a good thing. Sure we will notice small changes due to a different corporate environment, but in general I expect Atlus to act like Atlus. And With SEGA’s resources and marketing, maybe Atlus will finally get the commercial success that they deserve.

Personally I really like Atlus’ SNES offerings so I suppose if this stops them folding then that’s good news, another under-appreciated company survives the cull.
