Does anyone know of any good Super Famicom games? I have Mario & Wario and Mario Super Picross.

You know what, I’m starting to dabble in Super Famicom games. Take a look at Super Back to the Future II, Go Go Ackman,Magical Pop’n, and Magical Quest 3 on Youtube for starters to see if you might like those games.

There are just a ton of SFC games that need to be uncovered!

Thank you for the advice I also heard that some games like Super Double Dragon have more content on the Super Famicom then the SNES.

*Ahem:

DoReMi Fantasyi- Best platformer that never came here!  Up there with Mario

Jaki Crush-Forgotten member of the Crush pinball games

King of Demons-Great horror-themed action title

Macross:  Scrambled Valkyrie-One of the best shooters on the system

Battle Cross:  Great racer ala Mario Kart that allows 5 players!!!

Meet Tosanoma Alright Number 1!-very strange and um…Masculine(Yeah, Masculine!) version of Pocky and Rocky

The Firemen-also available in PAL, one of the finest action games on the system

R2:  Rendering Ranger-Good shooter, but it goes for silly prices now

Umihara Kawase-Strange game that is hard to describe.  Rubber Banding puzzler maybe?

Sutte Hakkun-competes with Tetris attack and Bust-A-Move for best puzzler on the system

Gundam Wing:  Endless Duel:  The best damn fighter that never came here!

Magical Po’p’n:  A cuter and more linear take on Metroid  try it and you’ll like it

All of these are playable without Japanese and are a great place to start!!  If you HAVE to have them in english there are reproduction carts for most of these!

Exploring the New World on Nintendo Switch. Currently Playing: Zelda BOTW, Octopath Traveler, Sonic Mania, Yoku's Island Express, Mega Man 11. Currently Watching: Marble Hornets, Luther, Black Mirror, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 5. Currently Reading: Influence by Robert Cialdini.

man a lot of those games are so bizarre.. just when you think you have the entire library nail down you still have all of the games that didn’t make it to the United States.

Welcome Hector. You are correct in what you say, certain titles that got a seperate JPN & US release did have different content. Mostly minor but you can be sure that the Japanese won’t have cut any nudity, violence or religious references.

I can’t name every game with differences but an example would be the Titanic/Poseiden Adventure inspired game S.O.S or Septentrion as it’s known in Jpn. The US version has the bar scene completely cut, in fact you can’t even enter the bar, the doors to it are simply closed without allowing access.

I admire the Jpn side of SNES gaming so much. Mongunzoo has already come out with some exceptional titles in this topic, my personal fave of his list being King Of Demons. I hope to be able to give you all some mini-reviews of some incredible and lesser-known games myself in the future.

Instead of buying a reproduction cartridge you can do what I do take the SNES games apart and switch the game boards on the inside. I took my old Sim City 2000 that doesn’t save anymore and turned it into Mario Super Picross.

Sadly, many of the games Mongunzoo mentions are prohibitively expensive, or at least very expensive though. Otherwise its a good list as such. Just be prepared to spend money, especially if you have to go through ebay, like most of us do.

I have Asperger's Syndrome, which means i can come across as rigid and overly argumentative. Please try and look past this and contact me if you have a problem with what/how i type. I type and read very literally and use no undertones. Thank you for trying to understand. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A.....r_syndrome

Well that’s eBay for you grimm, your spot on btw. Those games on Mon’s list are all playable without knowing any Japanese but as a growing trend we’re seeing playable imports getting more and more expensive. For instance on that list I can say that King of Demons, DoReMi Fantasy, Magical Pop’n, Sutte Hakkun and Deae Tonosama Appare Ichiban are all v.expensive already. Rendering Ranger had such a small number that its rare enough that sellers won’t let it go for less than hundred’s.

This is a good idea provided the SFC game you have doesn’t have a lot of Japanese text in it. Otherwise you will have to either understand Japanese, buy a repro, or do your own translation.

There’s plenty of translated reproductions available. I’ve already mentioned two in other threads but here is a good list with comments that someone on a different forum has provided if it’s of any use to our members here.

If you buy a game that doesn’t have to much Japanese text you can just make your own reproduction with some sports game it saves time and money.2013-02-24-153931.jpgImage Enlarger

I just use photoshop or gimp and then I made it the correct dimension. Then you can print on sticker or label paper if you don’t have a nice printer just get it done at a place that does photos.

Thanks for the tip!  Sounds much cheaper then buying a repro cart.
