OfflineTwo from FFVI immediately come to mind:
Wrexsoul, because it took me forever to figure out that he was possessing party members.
Magi Master, because it took me forever to figure out how to figure out his weaknesses (plus, he just takes forever).
I died on both of these bosses several times, so the memory is pretty strongly ingrained.

OfflineProbably the most memorable boss battle for me would be Shredder from TMNT IV Turtles in Time because I could never get to him alone so the only time I could face him would be with my big brother so when we finally got to him it was incredible for me. Then beating him was awesome.
Bowser from Super Mario World too cause he was so hard to get to as a kid for me. So when I finally saw him I was like wow, no words.

OfflineFor the SNES there are a few that spring to mind.
The legendary Agahnim, after revealing his secret room behind the curtain in Zelda LttP.
The tutu-wearing dancing giant panda boss at the end of Gokujou Parodius first level that’s set in a vending machine.
Fighting the imposing German nobleman, Wolfgang Krauser, amidst a backdrop of grandeur, opulence and lots of violinists in Fatal Fury Special.
That confrontation with the ravenous and unpredictable giant Spikey Tiger in Secret of Mana.
The boss at the end of GS Mikami’s second stage – it’s my avatar! You walk into what looks like an abandoned old house when you see a small girl. As you approach her she looks at you then starts to float up….

OfflineOh wow! I need to play this game! It seems incredibly fun haha! Also, I though the music sounded a bit familiar.. So i looked up the composers and it turns out it was made by the same guy who made my favorite SNES game soundtrack (Ninja Warriors)! I need to play this even more!
Two questions for you Ghost Sweeper :
Does the game have a save feature?
Do you know of any English translation / Is is playable without knowing Japanese?

OfflineIt has a Password system if you go on Options from the title screen but it’s quite a short game so it’s not really needed.

No translation as far as I know, which is a shame as you miss out on the story in the cut-scenes between each stage and the beginning of boss fights. If this got a full translation I would buy it as a repro as it’s one of my favourite games and I would like to know whats going on. Yes, it’s a fully playable game that’s very fun to play through if you have a couple of hours spare. The soundtrack is pretty sweet too.

Shameless plugging for my first ever import but it set me on the road to explore the SFC library and thus I consider it a bit of a hidden gem. As an anime-themed horror-platformer, I love it!

OfflineGS Mikami is a very good game, Ghost! Just tried it on my flashcart… It certainly reminds me of Ninja Warriors (by Natsume) a bit mixed with some fantasy and shooter elements. The platforming bits are also very enjoyable! These remind me of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (also by Natsume) but much more polished. Very fun! It makes me want to get into SFC collecting as well haha! So far there are two games that I clearly want on the SFC : This and Gundam Wing : Endless Duel!
Perhaps you could review GS Mikami, Ghost Sweeper?

OfflineDamn! I dont mean to double post but… I just found out that the guy who made music for Ninja Warriors and GS Mikami also composed for Gundam Wing : Endless Duel! What were the chances lol! I’m starting to believe my appreciation of a SNES game really revolves around its music haha!
EDIT: oh wow.. the guy did Wild Guns and Pocky and Rocky 2 too! He’s a legend!!

OfflineTo me, the SNES game with the best boss battles is Yoshi’s Island. All the scaling and rotation effects employed really make the bosses standout! There’s so many memorable boss battles in that game that it’s hard to pick just one, though if I was forced to choose, I’d go with the raven battle in world 5. It’s so cool how the background spins as you run around the little planetoid. In hindsight, it’s almost like a precursor to Mario Galaxy.
