Bastard. I paid 150 for mine a few months ago… Though it is mint, aside from some stupid retail sticker on the back. Sutte Hakkun is cute, japanese and DIFFICULT….

Third world as in level 30+? Im stuck there somewhere too, or maybe level 40+.. I dont remember at the top of my head, been a while.
What condition were you able to get it in? when i got mine there were three on ebay. one loose cart at nearly $90, two mint, one at 140, which i got (+9 or so shipping) and one at 180ish.. The loose cart disapeared so maybe it got sold, the 180 one is still on ebay.

Just bought my first game for a while – Bomberman B-Daman

I paid $30 (best offer) for a mint set complete with the gold bomberman figure. I think thats a decent price nowadays.

Do you use Ebay for finding games? Is that the best source for deals?

I do use eBay and a few select sites that offer good value. The problem with eBay is that everyone that sells knows that the snes is hot right now, i mean ive noticed prices almost double in the last 2 years alone. Collecting Pal games is very expensive, US games arn’t much better and sfc games over the last 10 months have been climbing in price, quite rapidly for certain titles too. Im just glad i started before this retro snes boom, though i wish id of got the expensive ones out the way first. Only yesterday i saw Super Bonk 2 for the SFC in a tatty box go for around $60. Some people will pay anything. Be patient, add to your watch list what you think is acceptable to you and eliminate those that after deeper inspection don’t meet the criteria. Its the best way to ensure you get the quality product you want at a price your prepared to pay, whether it be a BIN or auction listing.

Bought recently; a Dragon Speed Pad in pristine condition in its original box. Ive never seen or heard of this and can’t find any info on the net about it which is a shame. I really like the red dragon logo on the pad!
Also bought Putty Moon boxed/complete etc in excellent condition for £5.

Ebay is good for one thing, convenience (IF YOU ARE NATIVE TO THE SELLER….. more and more refuse to sell abroad, because that is NOT convenient) and availability.. Also they have pretty good protection for a buyer, especially if you also use paypal.
Hiowever, everything on ebay is also more expensive, generally speaking, and you arent likely to make any great deals there, actually more likely to pay MORE, if not the so called “market value” for above mentioned reasons.
I would first look at the various retro gaming stores online, there are enough of them with varying price ranges in asia, europe and north america who will ship internationally. You are more likely to get better prices that way, especially if you dont have “everything” yet, and is looking for bundles to save on shipping. Ebay is generally my second option, mainly because of pricing, and people’s increasing unwillingness to ship internationally. (Global economy is what capitalism preaches, yet they make it very unconvenient, and relativly expensive to DO business globally. Ha, had do sneak that in there as well, because its true)
So yeah, you CAN find deals on ebay, or very rare items, but if you are looking for relativly accessable games i would suggest the online shops before ebay.
Id like to add to what Ghostsweeper just said as well, make up your mind on how much you actually want to pay, and learn the art of patience, prioritizing and sniping. If you sit there watching the last seconds tick away, with your maximum bid ready to send off, you are both more likely to beat other peoples bids, and not increase your own thinking “oh its just a few “insert currency here” more. Been there, done that. Sometimes i still lost the bid, other times i paid more than i was actually willing to spend rationally thinking about it. Also, if you do the second watching thing, you stop people from doing desperation bids themselves, since its too late by then. On the whole, Ghostsweeper is correct about pricing like i also elaborated on above. Ebay’ers know people will pay more on ebay than other places, and takes advantage of that.

It sounds like you guys are pretty good at this. Perhaps we could put our heads together and come up with a list of tips for newcomers looking for SNES gold!! Might make a good article!!
Any takers?

Just years of experience really. A list could possibly help some, but in the end it just comes down to rationality and logic.

Great take there by Grimm. I totally agree with setting your final limit, having tons of patience, and inserting your ONE and ONLY (max) bid at the very last possible second. I usually snipe with 3 to 4 seconds remaining, although I haven’t used eBay much in the last 3 years (did most of my damage 2006-2008)
A good theory to keep in mind is MOST items will come up on eBay again at some point. And at some point, one of those auctions will end slightly less than the norm. You just have to be at the right place at the right time.
