OfflineWelcome back to 1991 *sigh.
At the time of it’s release the NES has just put out Super Mario Brothers 3 and the Nintendo was still going strong! It is incredibly hard to convince most customers to upgrade hardware regardless of the technology since you are generally competing with a technology deemed “good enough”.
Exploring the New World on Nintendo Switch. Currently Playing: Zelda BOTW, Octopath Traveler, Sonic Mania, Yoku's Island Express, Mega Man 11. Currently Watching: Marble Hornets, Luther, Black Mirror, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 5. Currently Reading: Influence by Robert Cialdini.

OfflineVery interesting video; this takes me back.
A few things I noticed:
- Videogames were portrayed as children’s toys. This was the prevalent attitude at the time and much credit goes to Sega for opening up videogames for the teenage / young adult market with the Genesis.
- Many parents just didn’t get why a Super Nintendo was needed. Most gamers could immediately see the graphical improvement in Mario World vs Mario 3, but to a non-game playing parent, this difference was less immediate. These days, consumers generally expect a new console every 5 years or so, but back then, the millions of folks who bought an NES in 1990, were generally shocked that they’d need to upgrade.
- How much cheaper is a group therapy session compared to the cost of a SNES?
Now playing: SNES - Phalanx, R-Type III, Genesis - Bio Hazard Battle, PS3 - Dragon's Crown
