So, what is your favourite super nintendo/sfc accessory?
I dont really have any accessories other than a few different controllers. So far ive found the Mad Cats/High frequenzy (+various other re-brands) 6 face button controller the best choice overall. I have pretty big hands, and the d-pad is more similar to Sega’s 16-bit controllers, which for me is the best d-pads ever. Especially the one on the wireless Sega brand controller. The only drawback of the mad cats controller is that the d-pad is fairly agressivly concave, and the sharp edges of the x-shape can hurt your thumb after a while. But it is my favourite still, especially for the few fighters i have, thanks to the d-pad.
I probably had more accessories when i used to have my old Pal system, but i sold that off many years ago when i got my US system instead (94-95?) and cant remember anymore..
My favourite accessory might change to the 2.4ghz controllers ive ordered, depending on how they turn out. I am a sucker for well functioning wireless controllers, as i have so many systems, and extension cables are such a mess!
I have Asperger's Syndrome, which means i can come across as rigid and overly argumentative. Please try and look past this and contact me if you have a problem with what/how i type. I type and read very literally and use no undertones. Thank you for trying to understand. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A.....r_syndrome
I was never into accessories for any system until recently with the Xbox 360 when I brought a Turtle Beach headset to communicate online.
If I had to vote on something for the SNES, it would be the 4 player adaptor. Playing Super Bomberman and NBA Jam with four players would be lots of fun I imagine.
I’ll be interested in how your experience with the wireless controller goes…

They wont be my favourite… they are too small for that.. not freaky small, but not as comfortable as i first thought. For size, the Acclaim wireless controllers are much better.

I spent over an hour with them on SMW yesterday. I havent compared with a regular controller yet but i felt like they might have some lag, this is not a good thing.. I will wait for your game to arrive first though. I _know_ SF2 has very tight and responsive controlls, and its easy to use two players, same character and press the same button at the same time and see.. The variation between my thumbs would be smaller than noticable lag.
Also worth mentioning is i really suck at SMW.. i cant get passed castle number 3 at all.. I really hate those stupid wizard things… But like i promised, i will do a thourough review across different genres. If they do have lag, they might still be preferable to games where lag doesnt matter as much. Like rpg’s and such. We shall see in a couple of weeks or so.

The one im trying to remember is the SFC Train Simulator Control Panel etc etc.. really can’t recall the official name nor can i find any pics of it on the web but im sure ive seen a couple of them floating on ebay the last year or so. I think its compatible with Take the A-Train or some other train game probably. Im not even interested in buying it as trains don’t really interest me but i am curious about it. Im sure im not imagining it I can’t find any info about it though. .

Wow, i had no idea such an accessory even existed, even in japan. If you come across any info or pics, do share with us.

There is no version version of Densha De Go for the Super Famicom. I looked it up on the Japanese Wikipedia. It was first released in 1997 for the Playstation, then Densha De Go EX for the Saturn the following year.
As for my favorite accessory, I like the mouse. I’ve never played Mario Paint, but I like it for playing Arkanoid: Doh It Again. There are actually several games in Japan that support the mouse.

Damn man, i reluctantly think your right.
Okay basically i think the seller might of had “SFC” amongst the auction title and i took it for granted or more likely i just quickly scrolled through and didn’t really look with any purpose. Oh well. It would of been a nice curio i guess.. if you like train simulators.

Nice to see some other games support the mouse. I only know about Mario Paint. Are there any more??
Favorite accessory I have to say the Hudson multitap. If only more game were compatible with it. Mario Kart would be so great with four players. I.don’t know much about programming video games. Is this something they could have easily add to the game afterwards or should they develop the game with this in mind? How cool would it be if someone fixed this cart today, to play with four players today! Maybe in my dreams.

You should find this useful for a list of compatible games – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SNES_Mouse
I have a few on that list but no mouse at the current time. Mario to Wario looks interesting, id like to get the big box version of it.

Thanks! Mario to Wario looks fun indeed. Just watched a video of it on youtube. Never heard of it before. Have to take a closer look at that list. Still have the mouse and would be nice if it get’s to see some action again! I see I have another game outside mario paint hat uses the mouse: lemmings 2 ! The list is longer than I expected!
I’m fairly certain a game has to be programmed with 4 players in mind, though I wish it were possible to configure any game to four players aftermarket.
Yeah… I do wish more games used the Multi-tap. Perhaps the SFC utilized it more than the American and European versions? Maybe Ghostsweeper or Greg could chime in on that one.

Try Battle Cross, a racer ala Mario Kart that was Japan-Only! It lets you play with FIVE TOTAL PLAYERS!!! I cover that and more in my overview artivle on the multi-tap!

I just checked my own games and saw that there are two more Super Famicom games that also use the mouse that are not included on this list: Asameshi Mae Nyanko and Block Kuzushi. Asameshi is like a cross between rock/paper/scissors and Minesweeper, with kitty cats. Block Kuzushi is like an Arkanoid clone (review on my site).

Yes, Battle Cross is lots of fun! The most I was able to do was 3 players once.

The best accessory for the SNES is the Super Game Boy in my opinion. The fact that you could play Game Boy games on the TV, IN COLOR (well, like three at least), was mindblowing! I remember playing Zelda: Link’s Awakening thinking to myself “this looks almost as good as A Link to the Past”. Awesome, awesome accessory.

That game that greg mentioned not on the list of mouse compatible games, Asameshimae Nyanko, I remember seeing a snippet of it in one of my Super Play mags a couple of years ago and it looked intriguing. It’s somewhat of a board or party game in genre, sort of like reversi/othello but the action goes to a separate screen where the cute ‘ickle kittens turn very violent and do battle to maim the other one.
I also remember playing Link’s Awakening on my original brick-like GameBoy many a year ago now. I think its as good an adventure as you can get; loads of varied side-quests and plenty of top dungeons with great music to boot. I enjoyed it as much as LttP so would love to play it again someday – perhaps on a big screen using the Super GB. I’m not sure GB Color games would work, if i recall the Color games were being released about the same time as the N64 era. Not 100% though, they could work with early Color games so its worth finding out for sure.
