Monthly rentals typically allow driving throughout UAE without restrictions – Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Fujairah all fine. I drove my Octane Rent car from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah, RAK, Al Ain regularly exploring. Oman is different story – need special insurance and permission from rental company. Mileage wise, monthly contracts often include 3000-5000km or unlimited. Abu Dhabi to Liwa round trip is 500km, to Jebel Hafeet 300km, so you can do several exploration trips monthly without hitting limits. Just verify mileage allowance in your contract and what excess km costs. Most hidden Abu Dhabi spots within 200km radius though, so very doable on standard monthly mileage.
