Modalert 200 mg is the “awake pill” most frequently recommended for narcolepsy. Through the stimulation of certain neurotransmitters in the brain, Modalert encourages alertness and helps lessen excessive daytime drowsiness, a major symptom of narcolepsy. It usually lasts 8 to 12 hours and is favored over conventional stimulants since it has a lesser potential for dependency. An alternative medication with a longer half-life is armodafinil (Nuvigil). While they are also utilized, other stimulants including amphetamines (Adderall) and methylphenidate (Ritalin) may have greater adverse effects. The optimum course of action for each patient’s needs is always determined by consulting a physician.
