OfflineHave you ever considered raising your deductible to lower your car insurance premium? A lot of drivers in Utah, especially around Salt Lake City, are doing just that. With rising insurance rates, people are starting to weigh the benefits of taking on a bit more risk in exchange for monthly savings.
I was comparing car insurance quotes in Salt Lake City the other day and noticed a big difference in premium costs depending on whether I chose a $500 or $1,000 deductible. The savings were pretty substantial—somewhere around 15-20% off the annual premium.
Of course, it’s not for everyone. You’ve got to be confident you can cover the deductible in case of an accident. But if you have a clean driving record, don’t file frequent claims, or drive mainly in safer areas, it could be worth it. I think it’s a good option for folks who are financially prepared and want to cut down on fixed monthly expenses.
Anyone else here gone the high-deductible route? Did it save you money in the long run? Would love to hear your experience.
