I heard of Axelay before, but I never had an inkling to play it. The review here makes me want to reconsider. Check it out.

Axelay is fantastic.  One of the best shmups on the system and as good as just about anything on the Genesis / TurboGrafX (two systems that are known for shmhups).

The best part is that it can be had for really cheap!  Lukie games has it for around $10 or so.

Also, the box art is amazing!

Now playing: SNES - Phalanx, R-Type III, Genesis - Bio Hazard Battle, PS3 - Dragon's Crown

Shmups might be the best bargain on the SNES.  The SNES doesn’t get much respect for shmups, as the Genesis and TurboGrafX are both considered to have superior shmup libraries.

Now playing: SNES - Phalanx, R-Type III, Genesis - Bio Hazard Battle, PS3 - Dragon's Crown

Although I’m no Genesis shooter expert, a couple that stand out are Musha, Thunder Force III & Thunder Force IV.

I have never heard of Thunder force before that sounds like an interesting title. I’ll have to google it
