When do video games tied to movies ever wind up being good? It’s rare, but it has happened. Um, I don’t think this game fared too well. Look at the gory details here.

One of my bottom Genesis games. Once barely managed to reach the 2nd level. Appalling.

The movie was on one of the cable channels last month and I thought about watching it. I’ll try to catch it whenever it shows back up again.

I enjoyed the True Lies movie. Is Last Action Hero just as good?

I find “Last Action Hero” abysmal. It’s a disjointed and lethargic catastrophe. As a “Purple Rose of Cairo” fantasy it’s confounding, as a parody of action films it only makes sense to itself, and as an action film its scenes have the worst structure I’ve ever seen. Key details make less sense as you watch, from why Austin O’ Brien’s character even watches the “Jack Slater” movies to what Arnold Schwarzenegger is doing as the star of a series of Shane Black riffs like the “Jack Slater” series, because the script is a collection of half-realized ideas and outright contrivances.

Yeesh. From the sounds of it, I think I’d rather play a game featuring Mr. Freeze from Batman & Robin. Now THAT was a terrible action movie! Not even Uma Thurman could save it.

I saw the movie a couple weeks ago. I didn’t think it was that bad, at least not walk out of the theater bad. At least it was watchable.
