The Mortal Kombat franchise was popular from the very beginning. It was probably better known for its explicit depiction of fatalities than for actual gameplay, but any publicity is good publicity, right?

Here is the review.

I’ve heard at least one site member express disappointment in their experience with this game, and I can certainly relate. For those Mortal Kombat aficionados out there, how does your encounter with SNES installments of Mortal Kombat compare to what the franchise has to offer as a whole?

I never played Mortal Kombat on the SNES, but I did play it on the Genesis. It was okay. I thought Mortal Kombat II on the SNES was marvelous.

I’m giving Mortal Kombat II on SNES a go-round and it is miles ahead of the previous installment. I still find some of the moves more tricky to pull off than I feel they should be, but overall it has that “more of everything” quality I express craving in my MK review conclusion.

Are you going to do a review of Mortal Kombat II as well?

That’d be a lot of fun but as of now I’m not planning on it. It would be good have another voice treating the MK games on SNES. Right now I’m looking at Clayfighters for my next fighting game review. If a while passes and no one expresses interest, I may indeed snatch it up.

Or else I could send MKII to you to review, Masa, since you enjoyed it on Sega.

It’s the original Mortal Kombat I played on the Genesis. I played the sequel the Super NES. I’ll let you know about borrowing it. Do you have the manual as well? Thanks for offering.

One of these days I’ll learn to read.

No booklet, just cart.

Although this link seems to have the goods:
