Among the first Super NES releases, Waialae Country Club boasted unparallelled realism among golf video games at the time.

Can it hold its own in 2015? Read here to find out.

Yet another sub-par SNES golfing title, <sigh> …

Can anyone speak to T&E Soft’s other golfing titles? From videos, their Wicked 18 on SNES looked like zany fun, and the N64 rendition of Waialae looked spectacular.

Excellent review, if for no other reason than you made reading about this crappy golf game interesting. :)

I’m pretty sure all of their golf games on the SNES are just as excruciating to play, thanks to the pacing. I don’t remember any of them standing out, other than Pebble Beach because of the SMOOTH jams contained within. The IREM Skins Game is the only SNES golf game for me.

Waialae on the N64 is certainly easier to play, thanks to faster animation (and decent music throughout). The announcers do get pretty annoying with their commentary, though.

Thanks, Eric. I enjoy the challenge of making sub-par SNES games worth reading about, even if I wouldn’t consider them worth playing

I took a youtube gander at IREM Skins Game and it certainly looks to be a cut above the common links title. I love the top-down view both pre-hole and during the shot. The upbeat music makes for a more pleasurable play as well. I’m looking forward to hopefully coming across a cart of this one some day.

I own both T&E Soft’s Waialae and Pebble Beach and they’re average to say the least. I did play Devils Course on emu and it wasn’t too bad but there are far better golf games out there I’m sure. Masters New might be a big improvement as it came out quite late but I need to obtain that before I can pass judgement. Personally I like the St Andrews game, it takes some practice but is very rewarding. The one flaw is hitting the accuracy marks with the driver is so tough I sometimes just not bother in favor of getting an accurate strike with less distance. Mess up with the driver and you won’t be going far anyway. Major Title/Irem Skins is very solid, I also like the music. Naxat Golf is probably worth looking at on import too.
