Here and there. I’ll do it if there something I want to try out that I can’t with a regular cart (like debug mode in EarthBound, I don’t have a game genie) or if the game is hard to find or not easily available to me. I mean do I want to pay money to play Home Improvement just so I can see if it was as bad as I remembered it was when I rented it as a kid? Heck no.

I don’t really use any emulator to play my snes games but I have used some to try games before buying them. I also have a limited budget to spend on my snes collection.. Yesterday I stumbled upon what is called a ”flash snes cartridge” – some of you might have heard of them – and I ordered one. It lets you put snes roms on a SD card and then you insert it into the special snes cartridge. You then put the snes cart into your system and you are ready to go. This is basically like using an emulator but you would get the authentic feeling you’d get if you played the actual game on your system. Only problem: you can’t really play games using a special chip except if you have an actual game using the same chip as the rom you want to play.
I will use this to play expensive titles such as Earthbound and surely some translated super famicom games. But normally I prefer to own the real thing and add it to my collection .
