Just an observation. Currently when you click on the Articles or Reviews tab at the top of the screen it takes you to the submissions but lists them in date order. Whilst I think we should still keep the date of submission apparent I think it would be better served if the reviews & articles were listed in alphabetical order (with the submission date alongside it)
What do you guy’s think?

I think that it has served us well as is thus far,but if those lists grow much larger we are going to begin to have some navigation problems.
Definitely worth looking into!

Here’s what I was thinking: maybe for the review and article pages, the information for each work could be organized in rows, instead of a single column like they are now. There would be the link to an article or review, and to its right would be the date of submission and the scores for each review. The layout could look something like:
{F-Zero} {September 3, 2012} {****}
{Super Metroid} {December 15, 2012} {*****}
For articles:
{The Super Game Boy} {March 20, 2012}
{15 Outstanding Super Nintendo Tunes} {March 16, 2013}
…and so on. There could even be a table to place these things.
Also, the option could exist for users to re-arrange articles and reviews alphabetically, chronologically, best-to-worst score or worst-to-best score.

Yeah I’d be fair game to run with that idea. I’m in favor of the re-arrange options you mentioned, they should be implemented to.
I suppose we need a few more submissions before it starts to become a problem. I only noticed it because I had to scroll all the way to the bottom to find the latest review. Normally I’ve always clicked on it from the main page but I went on the reviews tab instead.

I have some more suggestions to manage the size of the review section.
- GhostSweeper and marktheshark discussed reviewing more Super Famicom games in the “Introduce Yourself” thread (as Masamune also mentioned in the “Undercover Cops” review), and we have seven reviews of them already. Perhaps the SFC games can go in a separate section of the reviews page.
- We can create multiple pages, like with the Authors sections. Each page will have fifty review links on it before the next page is created.
- We can organize the reviews by making alphabetical sub-sections, the way Sega-16 does it. (I prefer the multiple-pages idea, but then again I’m only spitballing here.)
- As an aside, I think some the link names should be cleaned up to better reflect the review titles. Here are the names I’m talking about:
- TMNT IV: Turtles in Time –> Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles In Time
- NBA Jam: T.E. Edition –> NBA Jam: Tournament Edition
- Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon –> Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon: Another Story
I made a change to the review page. I used some ideas from the posts above. Review links are now on a table and can be sorted by name, date posted, rating and region. This should make it much easier to navigate. There is also a search function to make finding specific games even easier. I’ll eventually do the same thing for the article page.
One problem I see thus far is when I want to sort by rating, it sorts in alphabetical order, not by actual rating. I will have to play around with the code to function like I want.
Any other thoughts or comments?
EDIT: I fixed the rating sorting to something I’m satisfied with. Everything looks good to me.
