Would anyone be interested in an article on the best cheat codes in SNES games?  I’ve been kicking around coming up with a Top 5 or Top 10 article for this.

Now playing: SNES - Phalanx, R-Type III, Genesis - Bio Hazard Battle, PS3 - Dragon's Crown

I’d be interested! How would you rank them, in order of usefulness in-game or cleverness of execution?

I’d be focusing mostly on how they enhance overall gameplay, so a combination of both the factors you listed.

Consider me intested! It’s fun to try these old cheat codes but nowaday’s I don’t use them that often. It will be interesting to start trying these again : )  Do you make categories like “the best Mario game cheat codes”  “the best fighting game cheat codes” etc. Or just an overal “best cheat codes” list?  I do remember one for the first Street Fighter that I used everytime. It would give you the option to play with two of the same characters and would end the debate that only one of us could play with Guile : )  That code was for the PAL version. Are there differences in using codes for NTSC oor PAL games by the way?

Looking forward to the list! (As long as it is without game genie) ; )

Tom,

I’ll be focusing on a “best overall” cheats list and don’t worry, the “mirror match” code from the original Street Fighter II will definitely make the list.

Masamune,

Glad you are interested.  I will get to work on it!

Yes! The mirror match code : )

I was looking through my old gaming magazines that my dad found in the attic two days ago and it’s very fun to see those old  pages again. In every one of them there is also a section dedicated to tips and tricks, lot’s of cheat codes : )  So maybe I have a few for you from the magazines, if you run short ; ) It’s fun because nowadays you can probably find everything on the internet but back then this was the primary source of information.

If you ever play Sim City on the SNES here’s how to gain access to loads of extra maps.

~ Select any map then start a new game

~ Open the Load Save menu from the top row of menu buttons

~ Select Go To Menu and make sure you do not save

~ Finally go back to the Map Select screen. You will see that an alternate version of the map has appeared

Each map in the main series has an alternate map of the same number (001~999)

There you go, 2000 maps to choose from.
