Hey everybody I’m still new to this site. But I love the Snes it was my first system and it’s about the only system I play with a little n64, nes and playstation 2 mixed in. For my first post I wanted to create a thread for every to openly and freely top about their top 10 or 20, if you feel like you can’t leave a game out.

This is personal opinions so let’s please keep it respectful and learn about new games and see why some games are so good in someone else’s eyes. and maybe we can find a new game we want to pick up

This gives me an idea. Maybe we can get a top 10 list from every active member of the site, then I could create an article making a top 20 list of the best Super Nintendo games (in our collective opinions).

Give me a couple days and I’ll post my top 10 list.

Ooooh, I had an idea that was just like this, and I never suggested it because I didn’t know how it would go over. It’s a much bigger list of the best Super Nintendo games; it has 200 games on it. And it would have a big writing process. All of the writers here would collaborate on it, maybe in a forum thread or Google Docs or something, and we’d vote on what games to include and how they would rank. After we create a finalized list, then we give each game a miniature review written by whoever wants to write it, about 100 or 200 words long. And instead of making the list an article, we make it a main feature alongside the reviews section and the forum thread.

I think that is an awesome idea! I would like to see the results of a poll like that

For a list of 200 games, more than three people should be involved. Maybe if we could get every active member to make a top 10 list, maybe we could get to 100.

Games could be given points from 1-10, 10 being for a person’s top pick in their list all the way down to 1 being the game ranked lowest on their list. At the end of the voting period, I would tally up votes and rank the games accordingly. Staff Writers, members and maybe even guest writers from other sites could write short blurbs for each game.

How does that sound?

What’s a “short blurb”? I was going to write those “miniature reviews” I mentioned in my previous post, but did you have something else in mind? And also, yeah, I wanted to work with as many people here as were willing on this thing, you, me, Ghost, Rush, jr, Antarch, SNESFTW.

I thought of making the list 200 games long to make it stand out from similar ones by IGN and Sydlexia and other SNES lists people think of, but if you don’t think it’s feasible, then it isn’t feasible. I really want to try at least going over 100 games with this list during the writing process.

100- 200 words is fine. The article would just take longer to finish depending how many games are involved.

And as long as enough people get involved in this, 200 games could be reachable.

The idea seems great! I have one question though.. How are we supposed to even reach 100 games with top 10s from every active member? Some games WILL appear on numerous lists hence reducing the total number of games chosen by the members. Or maybe I simply did not exactly understand what you guys are trying to create.

100 games couldn’t all fit on a top 10 list so we need people to have some of the same games of their lists because those same games will make up the final top 10 list.

Like if 20 people have Zelda and only 1 person has Super Mario World then Zelda will make the list and Mario won’t that’s how we’ll get the final list. Does that make sense?

If we won’t to make a top 100 list from everyone we would probably need to get a Top 20 from everyone

Regarding these problems of overlap and exclusion that sound like they’ll happen, I propose not creating individual ranked lists. What I think will work better, is we submit as many SNES games as we can think of that we’d like to include. Some people might suggest six at a time, other might suggest thirty. After we have a satisfactory amount of games in the pile, we’ll hold discussions on how to rank them from there.

If we take out the sorting algorithm and limitations of ranking our selections more than once, we’ll be able to give this list more of our own input.

That’s a great idea.  A Top 200 would really stand out, since as you said, there are already a bunch of Top 10, 20 and even 100 games.

A good starting place would be Mongunzoo’s old “150 Must Play SNES Experiences” topic.

Would this list be for North America SNES games only or would SFC games be allowed as well?

Now playing: SNES - Phalanx, R-Type III, Genesis - Bio Hazard Battle, PS3 - Dragon's Crown

You know, Rush, I hadn’t thought about too much about that. SFC releases include games that fit right in next to North American titles, and stuff like Mario and “Chrono Trigger” was released in both countries anyway. Let’s put ’em on the list.

Same for PAL games, since Mon recommends “Terranigma”.

My list encompasses the games I submit for this mega-list, although I wrote down certain games because I anticipated others voting for them as well. I’m either unfamiliar with some of these while certain of their quality, or I’m willing to budge and learn your opinions on them (I’ve wanted to see what makes “Mega Man 7” Ghost’s favorite of the series).

There’s no due date for people’s selections. We’ll keep listing names until we come up with enough (ideally 200) titles between us.

If were going to list 200 games here.. why not simply take over all of the 150 “must play” games we had to begin with?
