What are your personal thoughts on the Super Nintendo’s design? Was it fine as it was, or did it need a different look? Talk about it here.

Ive always like the look of the PAL/Japanese consoles. I actually can’t stand the look of the US ones, they just look a visual nightmare.

LOL, I like the way the Pal/Japanese ones look. I would’ve been fine for getting that design here in the States… but I’m still partial to the U.S. design. I’m too used to it. laugh

The US snes looks alright, but the original design is better. The only thing that sucks is that you cant stick US cartridges directly into that one, without either an adapter of some sort, or chopping up the hole. Ive seen people make replacement flaps and it looks good enough, but you can tell its an afterthought.

Thusly, the original looks better, but the US is a neater/simpler choice for making region free.

Another vote for the Super Famicom look!! Unfortunately as Grimm stated, the U.S. model is the easier one to mod but I do love the curves on the Japanese/Euro model!!!

Not a fanboy, just a gamer...every system has its gems!!

If you want it to look “untouched” anyway, and keep dust out. The actual mod is the same.

I’ve thought it would look neat it they made different color models for the SNES, especially transparent plastic ones.  I remember the N64, Gameboy Color, and GBA all coming out with transparent systems and accessories in the late 90s/early 2000s.  I would like to see it make a comeback.

Currently looking for the following SNES games:

Chrono Trigger

EarthBound

Final Fantasy II (Final Fantasy IV)

Secret of Mana

Illusion of Gaia

Super Castlevania IV

Super Mario RPG

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

 Zombies Ate My Neighbors

TMNT IV

Contra III

I really prefer the Super Nintendo redesign over the first 1. I do like the Super Famicom the best.

Well with all the modders out there with their creative mindsets, I would think there will be transparent shells for the Super Nintendo being made sometime down the line.

I’m sure that if you look hard enough on google, you will find people who have a transparent snes.
