OfflineBack in the 90’s and very early 2000’s, they were known for bringing in many great RPG’s such as Lunar, Dragon Force, Vanguard Bandits, etc. They were shut down in December 2005, but Victor Ireland (president of the company) founded Gaijinworks, which will probably be the spiritual successor to WD. I don’t remember them too much since I’m only 19 years old currently.

OfflineI don’t recall the company name to be honest but those games you mentioned intrigued me enough to at least find this list of games Working Designs had a hand in: http://www.gamefaqs.com/featur…..11304.html
They look mighty impressive, of the one’s I’ve heard of – Lunar, Popful Mail, Shining Wisdom, Thunderforce V & Magic Knight Rayearth. Great games I’ve never sampled. The only game I’ve played on that list is Cadash and even then it was the Genesis version. Sorry I can’t add much to this I never had consoles that they released games on at that time.

OfflineI was always aware of them, but didn’t play any of their game except for the Lunar 1 and 2 remakes on the PS1.
My bro still has the first Lunar game on the PS1, whereas I still have the Eternal Blue remake.
They did a phenomenal job translating the Lunar games and injecting them with a great sense of humor. Lunar 2 is one of my top 5 RPGs of all time.
Now playing: SNES - Phalanx, R-Type III, Genesis - Bio Hazard Battle, PS3 - Dragon's Crown
I know the company game and some of the great work they did. That being said the only game I had of theirs was Arc the Lad Collection. Like Ghost said they have a great library of games to play.
It’s sad these smaller companies that bring us such niche’ titles can’t stand the test the time. Well we do have Xseed and I’m thankful to have them.

OfflineI have mixed feelings towards WD. Sure, they localized a lot of really good games, but the cultural references and sexual humor was a huge turn-off for me.

XSeed is not the only company to localize niche games today. There’s also Agetec, in which they’re known for localizing the Armored Core games, but they mainly localize games in the 3DS eShop today. Of course, there’s Atlus, but I don’t know if they still localize games made by other companies anymore. Don’t forget, there’s also NIS America, which sometimes localize games from other companies.
Last, but not least, there’s Gaijinworks. They’re practically a spritual successor to WD. They’re already localizing a niche game, which is Class of Heroes 2 for the PSP.
Here’s the website for Gaijinworks: http://www.gaijinworks.com/

OfflineMost of WD’s cultural references / sexual humour happened after you talked to a random villager two or three times (at least in the Lunar games), so they weren’t really a problem for me. More like a fun bonus for talking to everyone multiple times.
