Nintendo Power will shutter it’s doors forever after it’s December Issue.

Though sad,m I am not surprised.  Magazine subscriptions for gaming magazines have been in decline over the past decade.  Many gamers have come to rely on the internet for gaming news and reviews.  Only GameInformer is immune to this, and that is only because it’s given away.

Nintendo Power was a huge part of my childhood, Back when Nintendo published it (before it was farmed out to “game journalists”).  I am sad to see it’s legacy come to an end, as Futureis shuttering it, and Nintendo has no interest in reviving this important part of it’s legacy.

Nintendo Power retrospective Incoming…….in a future article.

Exploring the New World on Nintendo Switch. Currently Playing: Zelda BOTW, Octopath Traveler, Sonic Mania, Yoku's Island Express, Mega Man 11. Currently Watching: Marble Hornets, Luther, Black Mirror, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 5. Currently Reading: Influence by Robert Cialdini.

Such a shame, but understandable indeed. We all look first on the internet. It’s so easy to acces and there’s much more information. No magazine can live up to that. Still, magazines have their charm and I would love to keep reading them which means I have to keep buying them and I’m not that good in doing that all the time. So I feel I am also to blame. The glory days of Nintendo were the late 80’s and early to mid 90’s in my opinion. Reading old magazines with the colorful drawings is what I will always cherish and I thank Nintendo for giving me a wonderful time in my childhood and for doing it still today when I play the games from those golden years. Thanks!

Yes, it’s indeed the end of an era. I loved this magazine growing up. Had a subscription from 1990 thru 1996. I later brought the 1988-1989 issues on Ebay. It was a great magazine back then. When I think of nostalgia, Nintendo Power is one of the first things that come to mind.

It’s sad when some traditions die out, but we do have the internet to provide with all the pictures and info we need when it comes to video games … or anything else for that matter. This is the continuing saga of the extinction of print media.

At least well have all of those back issues to look and read through!

To be fair, printed media has declined, but its not extinct or close to it. it also depends heavily on what kind of media we are talking about. I like reading in the bathtub, mostly manga or other comics, and i cant see myself buying a stupid tablet to read electronic versions, where they even to exist. These things will be around for a long time yet. Just individual publications might come and go. As always.

I have Asperger's Syndrome, which means i can come across as rigid and overly argumentative. Please try and look past this and contact me if you have a problem with what/how i type. I type and read very literally and use no undertones. Thank you for trying to understand. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A.....r_syndrome

R.I.P. Nintendo Power….I dunno why but this magazine shutdown in particular makes me very sad. I mean I get the whole digital thing but EGM, Gamefan, & now Nintendo Power. It truly is the end of an era. = (

Never read it myself, I was always a devotee of Super Play. Still it is a shame that all good things come to an end.

Now that the issue is out, anyone get a chance to read it? I’m wondering where I can find it other than Game Stop and other video game stores.

I’m planning to buy this issue if I can find it. Try looking in Barne & Nobles for it.

jrsupermoore, did you ever get the final issue of Nintendo power magazine? Back in December, I called beforehand to a local Barnes and Noble. The person who answered checked the computer system and told me they had 3 in stock.

I go there and look thoroughly in the magazine racks and find no Nintendo Power magazines in any shape or form.

I went to the help desk and the lady confirmed for me that the system said they had three in stock. She went to the magazine section with me and neither of us could find it.

I don’t know if someone stole those magazines or what, but I ended up going to Ebay and paying $23 for one. The seller had 10 of them for sale! I got the last one!

It makes it hard to buy video game stuff at a fair price when people buy up 10 or more copies of something. Who knows how many other people bought 10 or more copies around the country just so that could make a profit. It sucks. frustrated
