Sequels don’t always turn out as good as or better than the predecessor. Luckily for the Mega Man X franchise, X2 does provide a excellent follow-up to the original. Mongunzoo provides a 2nd opinion here.

Which console did you get the X collection on Masa?
I’d agree with John Legendofzelda that X1 and X4 are the highlights of the series. The SNES trilogy is fantastic and X4 offers a lot of new features, but the series kind of goes downhill from there.
Now playing: SNES - Phalanx, R-Type III, Genesis - Bio Hazard Battle, PS3 - Dragon's Crown

I got it for the PS2. I did some research on both editions and they seem identical as far as I could tell. I chose the Playstation 2 version because:
1) I prefer the PS2 controller over the Gamecubes’
2) I paid $13.99 for a sealed copy of the Collection while a Gamecube version was over $50.

Blasphemy!!!
You & I are polar opposites on this Masa, the GC pad is the best damn controller… ever. Nothing else compares, especially not the GreyStation’s inferior designed fiasco

Perhaps, though having only played PAL GC titles I’m not that familiar with many 2D games in its library. The main plus I find in the GC is yes, ergonomically its terrific – I have not used a better pad that fits so well in my hands. The shoulder buttons are sturdy, well placed & react well. It’s biggest draw for me over the PS pads though is the control stick which is by far the better in every aspect – it grips better, it can be operated easier and it doesn’t loosen as much through use. The cube gets a bad rap but it has its plus points. A lot of games I probably wouldn’t of ever played if it were not for the GC either.
I never said I didn’t like the Gamecube controller; I do. But when a game depends on the control pad and its teeny weeny, I’d rather go with something else.
If a game doesn’t use the Gamecube’s pad as a core control, then yeah, it’s a good controller. Everything is good about that controller except for that pad dagnabbit!

True in that regards. I think the worst part of the controller is the yellow stick to the right of the d-pad. You know, I’ve never had to use the d-pad for anything core to the gameplay of a GC title, if im honest the times I use it are for mainly scrolling through or bringing up menu’s. As a Mega Man fan myself though it’s still annoying that the Anniversary edition was not released in Europe.
