Here’s a second take on Secret of Mana, thought by many to be one of the better RPGs on the system.

Another great review, don’t know how I missed this 2nd one.
No t3tr1s you won’t find it cheap, not unless someones throwing it out without knowing its true value. I love this game, if Shining Force was my MD childhood Secret Of Mana was my SNES childhood. A nr.perfect game that captivated me for days on end. A very well written story, a beautiful musical score from Hiroshi Kikuta and the now famous ‘ring’ command system really sets this apart from other early-mid era SNES rpg’s. Plus you get to play it side by side with a real person. What more could you ask for. Recommended

It’s really good even on one player, especially if you’ve never played it before. I never played Seiken Densetsu 3 or Secret of Mana 2 as it’s called, though it’s available on reproduction. It always looked to me to be the superior game it every department, keeping the same system but making tweaks you would expect to slightly improve upon the first. It also allows you to pick from 3 of 6 characters with a different ending depending on each combination making the replay value even greater.

You can get the Japanese version, Seiken Densetsu 3 in good, complete condition for a decent price still. If you require an English version it’s available only on reproduction which lately seem to be going for around the $50 – $120 mark. Now that seems broad but you have to factor that the bottom end will be for the cart alone and some sellers will charge more than others.
Here’s a good place to start looking for any role-playing games not officially released in the English language. He also has other good stuff. http://www.gamereproductions.c…..egory_id=3

I should add that I did try a translated ROM of SD3 a loooong time ago and never really got into it. I found the story to be dull. This was largely due to the multiple protagonists and story possibilities.
SD3 trumps SoM in replay value (and slightly in graphics), but I feel SoM offers a better overall experience.
Now playing: SNES - Phalanx, R-Type III, Genesis - Bio Hazard Battle, PS3 - Dragon's Crown

I always thought that Seiken Densetsu 3 was 2-player only.
Yes the official Super Famicom game is 2P only but the reproductions are a 3-player hack. At least some of them are, it’s always worth checking the details of other sellers but the link I posted earlier – his reproduction of SoM2 allows 3P’s.

I’m going to look for Secret of Mana. I would love to play a two-player RPG. I think playing a two-player game with a friend that’s next to you is one of my favorite things from childhood.
Currently looking for the following SNES games:
Chrono Trigger
EarthBound
Final Fantasy II (Final Fantasy IV)
Secret of Mana
Illusion of Gaia
Super Castlevania IV
Super Mario RPG
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Zombies Ate My Neighbors
TMNT IV
Contra III
