OfflineLet’s start a thread about recent game acquisitions!
Last night, I bought a J-Megadrive and Mega CD, both complete with box and accessories (although the CD unit didn’t have the instructions). I haven’t tested it yet, but I’m hoping there’s no problem. I only paid about 9,000 yen total for these (combined)!

OfflineI bought an new xbox 360, and gotten 2 games aside from forza and skyrim which came in the bundle. I got Mass Effect and Gears of War used but in good condition seperately. Ive had to exchange controllers 4 times now though, they squeel and one didnt even hold zero calibration which made lockpicking in skyrim a nightmare. I cant say im thrilled with the 360’s QC or userinterface. You can tell its a gameconsol first, and a multimedia machine second as you cant even manipulate the harddrive properly. The PS3 is miles ahead in terms of user interface and what it allows you to do. So the XBOX was a disapointment, but i got it for the exclusives (of which the skyrim addons which seems growingly unable to work with ps3 tipping the scale) and not as my primary modern console. My PS3 will definetly keep that role. Its my film player, my game player and if i get decent speakers and sound equipment, it will be my music player as well.
Ive also bought the new X-Com game for PS3, and pre-ordered Forza Horizon Limited CE a few days ago.
Not much retro-games in the past 6 months, as my cat is ill and im trying to cope with costs surrounding that, my economy is even worse than it usually is, being unemployed. But i get some sponsoring from family members about the cat so thats some relief. Its thanks to them that i can get some games to keep me occupied and distracted.

OfflineOnly games I can think of that I acquired in 2 months were Dynasty Warriors 5, Breath of Fire (had a faulty battery so it was returned), and Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution.
I do have $45 around however. Planning to spend it on some PSX games.

OfflineI scored a buttload of crap on YAJ last week. Here’s a ton of Mega CD games for only 2,000 yen. I now have more Mega CDs than I ever thought I would own. I think I’ll keep about half of them, at least. More like 3/5ths.
Here are the games in this bundle:
Ranma 1/2
Yume Miyakata No Monogatari
Switch
Tenkafubu some samurai simulation game, apparently
Winning Post (dumb horse racing game)
Pro Baseball Super League CD (oh yay, a sports game)
Egawa Suguru’s Super League CD (more baseball crap)
Wonder Dog
Mortal Kombat (it’s the white trash version of Street Fighter, in case you haven’t heard of it)
Funky Horror Band: Wakusei Woodstock
Detonator Orgun
Burai
Thunder Hawk
Rise of the Dragon
Quiz Scramble (yeah, I’ll be getting rid of this one soon enough)
Ishii Hisaichi no Daisekai (can’t find anything on this one)
Seirei Shinseiki Fhey Area
Heroic Legend of Arslan (SRPG based on the anime)
Star Blade
Heavy Nova
Gyuwambler Jikochushinha 2 – Struggle in the Tokyo Mahjong Land
Microcosm
Egawa Suguru’s Super League CD
Lethal Enforcers II
Death Bringer You always were a good judge of men, Death Bringer! Oh wait, that’s Deathstalker. Whatever.
AX-101
Black Hole Assault
Cosmic Fantasy Stories a compilation of the first two Cosmic Fantasy RPGs for the PC Engine.
Thunder Storm FX aka Cobra Command
Dynamic Country Club (a golf game)
Prince of Persia
Earnest Evans
Afterburner III
Yumimi Mix
Nobunaga’s Ambition 3
Mega Schwarzschild
Wolfchild
Lunar the Silver Star
I had various links to information on these games, but apparently the maximum allowed number of links per message is 7 for some reason. ![]()

That was put in place to limit any spammers that appeared on the site putting dangerous links here. I’ll remove the limit for the time being since we don’t have a spam problem.

OfflineI recently purchased a full xbox 360 upgrade kit from modsticks.com, and for any of you who play xbox 360, i can recommend you get some. All three major parts of the kit are adjustable for height or tension. He also has sticks available for ps3 which i purchased prior to this and love them, with d-pad, buttons and triggers coming early next year. Only real downer is logos arnt always perfect, i asked him specifically to check for this since my ps3 had issues with non centered logo on one of the stick compared to the other, and he did, but still got sticks that had small but noticable issues of you look in regards to the logos. The menu button and the action buttons look perfect tho..
Anywho, thats my latest game related purchase and although that stuff isnt cheap, it does actually upgrade the controller and allows you to set it up the way YOU want it to feel, not just get wacky colours and stuff from other custom-parts websites.
Oh, almost forgot, if you like i, have issues with oily skin and and sweaty hands, you’ll need some sort of rubber or silicone cap for the sticks as they are of aluminium. Even though he has designed each (aside from the arcade balls) of the top stick parts he offers for grip, its not enough for me. Dont bother with the caps he sells in his store, they offer no grip at all and feel very bad. Very slick type of silicone used with no friction. Check modsticks.com out, he has many videos showing off the parts, they are awesome!

I just scored MUSHA Aleste for only 4,200 yen! It has a few flaws, but it sure beats paying more than twice that amount!

Nice pickup Greg! Here’s what I got during the past few weeks:
– I got the Playstation 3 games for $15 each on a Walmart Black Friday sale.
– I got Super Mario Bros. U for free when I spent $40 @ Old Navy.
– Terranigma is a repro cart I bought from Retro Quest
– Mario Baseball was $10 on Ebay
– Journey to Silius was $21 on Ebay

OfflineI’m diggin’ the cover of Musha Aleste. That’s a good price you got it for though the rest of the auction page I know little about
It must be very useful to be able to tap into that market and get some good import stuff.
Never played it but I like the look of Journey To Silius.
I bought this recently for my Amiga – Journey, a 1989 text/graphic adventure game by Infocom, a company that would be taken over and unwisely used by Activision. Quite a rare game to find now, a mixture of interactive storytelling and role-playing adventure. I genuinely love the look and design of the old Amiga games as there is so much variety. Incidentally, this game was the first of its kind on the Amiga to allow the player to just use the mouse via menu commands rather then typing instructions with the keyboard.

Although it says £34.99 I had a nice chat with the seller and we agreed a price of £24.99 inc postage which was nice. It came complete in excellent condition with everything you see there – disk, manual, map, crystal in draw-string velvet pouch, advertisements etc. Also inside was an original flyer-type printed receipt of the product dated from some time in 1990 when it was sold for £29.95, a nice touch to the overall package. Well pleased ![]()

OfflineJust won myself a SNES 2/mini/junior or whatever you wanna call it, off ebay. Not a deal, but not a steal either (for ebay), and shipping is much cheaper than most others. It will eventually recieve a RGB mod, and hopefully a guy from youtube, DamoMonster, can help me with a workaround to get ikaru’s switchless mod to work on it. He would look into it for me.

Edit: Arrived and happy to anounce the Retro-Bit controllers work fine with this version also. Displayed below beside the SFC and US Snes.

OfflineThank you. I think i like the SFC the best, but with the larger US cartridges id have to chop up the slot (actually i do have a simple passthrough adapter that works, but its a little flimsy and builds on height so its difficult to insert a new game with the console in place in my console shelf), and either live with a too small dustflap, or remove it all together, alternativly lengthen it with plastic and plastic cement which im sure would just end up badly… So ive always had a lookout for the US “junior”, its nicer looking than the original US model, and it has the larger slot with dustflaps so you dont have to modify that one. I have basically no pal games (only star wing/fox), so for now region free isnt necessary.
But as i stated, id like to have it modified and i have two different guys willing to look into it for me, but they asked me to get back to them in a month or two. The mod i have in mind is the switchless one designed by someone called ikarus, its really nice as you can switch hz and region independantly, so you can play NTSC in 50%, and Pal in 60% should you wish to do so, and all the commands are run through the reset button. It is 100% compatible with all games this way. The problem is that he designed it to work with the older snes models which uses two main chips, the later revision of the old snes aparently runs 1 chip combined, as does the junior model. So these two guys have both mentioned a workaround might be possible, which would be great. Otherwise, my original US model can take that mod without any issues.
It will definetly be getting an rgb mod though. Composite is supposedly better on this model than the older snes, and it turns out fairly good on my LG LCD, but rgb would kick it up another notch, so id like that one.. Its not cheap if you cant do it yourself, but its worth it.

Just negotiated a deal outside of feeBay. Bimini Run still remains one of the best mission-based boat games ever made and this is a nr.mint copy. Looking forward to playing it.
