OfflineThe Nintendo Switch may be looked upon as one of gaming’s Golden Libraries. With few exceptions, it is an expertly curated library that has something for everyone. And Nintendo seems intent on giving gamers what they want this time around. I over 70 carts for this system, I think I had, maybe 10 games, tops for my last few systems? Anyway, some highlights.
Zelda:BOTW: This game made me feel like a kid again. While it could have used more enemy variety and more traditional dungeons, If I’m being honest this game gave me everything I have been asking for for over a decade. This one is special. Thanks for finally listening, Nintendo.
Super Mario Odyssey: The 3D Mario game that finally won me over. Coherent worlds that the denizens of these kingdoms feel like they can actually live in, A Bowser that felt dangerous and on the offensive again, and what might be the greatest endgame since classic WoW Raids. Controls and camera finally feel right. Thanks for finally listening, Nintendo.
Splatoon 2: The single player is finally good, and it gives some system to system options. Overall an improvement, but it’s too small to be used as a coaster, or to prop up a couch leg once they turn the servers off. Lame. Still an important game, and a blast to play. Just wish you would have listened a bit more, Nintendo.
ARMS: Scratches that Wiisports Itch in the best way. This game is pure fun. The motion controls add a ton. I love experimenting with new ARMS and can’t think of a better party game. This and Splatoon provide Nintendo with two new vibrant universes for multiplayer. Great new property, Nintendo.
Mario Kart 8: Same great game, now with BATTLE MODE!!! BATTLE MODE!!!! Thanks for listening, Nintendo
Smash Ultimate: So much packed into this game. Great single player modes, multiple controller options, local multiplayer, every fighter in the series, and the best endine since Melee. Thanks for finally listening, Nintendo.
Kirby Star Allies: Kirby returns to the Beatemup it should be. Not quite as good as 3, but good enough to warrant a purchase. People who bich about it being too hard need to quit being bitchboys and waltzing through stages with 3 allies. It breaks the game. Should have been 40 dollars, but definitely scratches the Kirby itch. Thanks for listening, Nintendo.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze: Same Masterpiece it was on WiiU, glad Nintendo brought it over, should have been 40 dollars.
Bayonetta 2: Ditto for this.
Hyrule Warriors: Ditto for this
NSMB Wii Deluxe: Stuff this up you lazy ass, Nintendo. Time to do for 2D Mario what you did for 3D. Otherwise fuck off.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker: Same great experience, budget price, with more levels, and two player. What’s not to love?
Yoshi’s Crafted World: Could be harder, but would be lying if I said I didn’t love it. Should have been 40 dollars. Some of my favorite co op levels on the system.
Xenoblade Xhronicles 2: I’m certain theres a great game here, but right now I just don’t have the time to find it. Hard to wrap your head around the combat. The world seems good. Almost too vast. I miss giant robots.
Mario Rabbids Kingdom Battle: Who wulda thought!?! This is soooo good. Any fan of Xcom, play this NOW.
Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee: This is a must play for people wanting a streamlined and brilliantly updated Original Pokemon experience. Ya know, before it went offrails with 1000 pokemon and the battle system became a 2nd job?

OfflineGHonestly, I havent been. Too busy with Nintendo’s new wonderdevice. The switch keeps my attention. That is something even the Wii couldn’t do lol. Currently blasting through the Brilliant Fire Emblem Three Houses. Great tactical systems and the focus is back on geopolitics instead of Anime dominated horseshit. Reminds me a lot of Genealogy of the Holy War. Have you played that on SNES?

OfflineThis system. It’s going to be another Endless Ocean thanks to the absolute takeoff of limited edition physical editions. Some thoughts
Golf Story. This game is charming, fun ancomes with a helluva fun golf game attached. Who woulda thought a golf game mixing with an RPG??
Thimbleweed Park. This one is a Day One for fans of games like Maniac Mansion or Shadowgate. Insane characters inside an interesting world you will explore at you own pace.
Yoku’s Island Express. This might be one of the best games on the system. I’m not kidding. A metroidvania pinball game perfect for fans of Jaki Crush, Alien Crush, and Devil’s Crush.
Dust: An Elysian Tale. This one is interesting. Combat is satisfying, but only after the characters finally shut the hell up. Too much talking!! That said, the World is fascinating despite these chatterboxes. Metroidvania worth looking at.
Super Gianna Sisters. Very satisfying and difficult platformer that has some long ass load times. Seriously, no excuses for this. If Zelda BOTW can load up in 10 seconds this should load up instantly. Lazy ass developer hurt an otherwise amazing game.
Troll and I. Fuck Troll and I. It sticks, BAD!!!

I have not played Genealogy of the Holy War of any Fire Emblem game for that matter. Although I have Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem: Awakening.

Thanks for the suggestions. I never heard of some of them. I’ll take a look at some video reviews on Youtube.

OfflineA big part of it is the curation. I skipped Xbone/PS4/WiiU, Xbox360/PS3, Xbox/GC,/PS2, and PS. This system is a curation of some of the best games of these eras.
They are new games to me.

OfflineNice to see some Switch love. I’ve also got one, had it for around a year or so. Aside from the joycon drift, which I will admit totally infuriates me, the actual software library is fantastic. I’m mainly physical with a some digital, probably 70:30 in that regard.
Some games from my collection I’d like to recommend:
Octopath Traveller
SNK 40th Anniversary
Mega Man X Legacy Collection
Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon
Golf Story
I Am Setsuna
Darkest Dungeon
Sega Megadrive Classics
SegaAges: Phantasy Star
Collection of Mana
Neo Atlas 1469
Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening

Nice collection. I like the Octopath and Death Mark big box editions you have.Have you played Fallen Legion yet, and what’s your opinion of it?
I actually haven’t purchased a Switch system yet!
I know I will get one for sure, but am waiting for a really good Black Friday deal and also waiting to see if a Switch 2.0 comes out like Sony did with the PS4 Pro.
Whenever I see a deal for a Switch game I want, I’ll purchase it. Which is why I have the games that I do now.

I’m not sure if a Switch Pro is anywhere near on the horizen, though Ninty have pretty much committed to the Switch for the next several years so you’ve got plenty of time to pick one up at a more propitious time. I wouldn’t be paying scalpers prices at the moment.
Yeah, it’s crazy how the Switch is selling right now. Heck even the Wii and its games have had a sort of resurgence in prices since this pandemic began.
I’m perfectly fine with waiting this thing out and prices to go back to normal before purchasing a Switch system. I waited this long, right?
