I had no idea they were going to give Sonic this much of a overhaul

Since I’m quite happy with how the characters look in Sonic Colors and All-Stars Racing Transformed, this is pretty wacky. A scarf I guess, but they’ve basically put Knuckles on steroids.
The environment in the teaser looks pretty great though, but if they were going to overhaul the franchise, why did they even bother with making Sonic Lost World? Contractual obligation I guess. We all thought it was going to be like Colors/Generations but it’s a Mario Galaxy-type game, and I don’t think it’s selling well (then again, WiiU isn’t anyway).
At least SEGA is trying to breath some life into Sonic, compared to how anemic Mario’s been getting. Maybe they’ll release some mini-games for mobile devices which would be very good to whet the consumer’s appetite (and what Mario should be doing), but a TV show? Eh…. I don’t know. The only other video game TV show on now is Pacman and the Ghostly Adventures which is just weird – the only other video game shows I can think of are the Mario and Sonic ones from the 90’s.
At least it isn’t Angry Birds.

I’m not at all a fan of this new look, but if SEGA can back it up with quality gameplay, then that’s all that really matters to me.
SEGA seems a little to eager to shake things up for my tastes. They FINALLY got 3D Sonic right with Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations, only to throw that quality template out the window with Sonic Lost Worlds. Sonic Generations is one of my favourite games of the 7th generation; it singlehandedly reignited my love of Sonic. I went back any played all of the Genesis games after clearing Generations 100% (and I almost never play a game to 100% completion). It’s very frustrating how inconsistent SEGA is these days (though they were always inconsistent to a degree).
I know that SEGA is capable of making a quality 3D (and 2D) Sonic game, the problem is I can’t count on them to deliver consistently. I never know what I will get from them these days.

I like the backgrounds for the game and even Tail’s new design. I’m just not liking how tall Sonic is and I really hate how bulked out Knuckles is.
Let’s hope these character designs are an one-time thing.

You’re right, Knuckles in particular just looks wrong. His body shape looks more like Vector the crocodile than Knuckles.
