OfflineI’d have to go with Metroid, with Zelda coming in a close second.
The quality in the Metroid franchise has been very consistent and because there’s been fewer releases overall, the formula seems less stagnant.
Also, Super Metroid is single handedly the best game Nintendo has ever released.
Now playing: SNES - Phalanx, R-Type III, Genesis - Bio Hazard Battle, PS3 - Dragon's Crown

OfflineThanks for the feedback everyone. I picked Zelda and Pokemon. (Big surprise, looking at my username.) I would say Zelda is my favorite series, but Nintendo has several top notch franchises. Metroid would have been my pick over Pokemon if I hadn’t recently played Other M. Pokemon hasn’t come up with really good Pokemon designs since the 3rd generation, but Black/White at least had an excellent plot. Metroid can redeem itself on the Wii U/3DS, and I hope it does. It’s too good of a franchise to shy away from because of one hiccup title.
Currently looking for the following SNES games:
Chrono Trigger
EarthBound
Final Fantasy II (Final Fantasy IV)
Secret of Mana
Illusion of Gaia
Super Castlevania IV
Super Mario RPG
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Zombies Ate My Neighbors
TMNT IV
Contra III

OfflineI also could have added solid series like F-Zero, Star Fox, Kirby, Kid Icarus, Pikmin, and others, but it would make it even more difficult than it already is. I enjoy games from all franchises.

OfflineNintendo’s “B-list” franchises are amongst some of the best in all of gaming, but really can’t hold a candle to the Big 3; Mario, Metroid and Zelda.
Super Smash Bros is also an excellent franchise, but doesn’t really count as a SNES game.

OfflineI know Smash Bros. isn’t an SNES series. That’s why I posted in General Gaming rather than SNES forum. Still, it’s interesting to imagine what a SNES Smash Bros. would look like. As for Pokemon, I consider it to be the best handheld-oriented series. There are few series that have their main titles released on handheld rather than console.

OfflineI wouldn’t have a problem with a 1-on-1 fighter. The SNES had some quality fighters, so I think it could be pulled off.
