Of all the SNES games you own, which one is your favourite?
Of all the SNES games you don’t own, which one do you wish you could have most?
For me, my favourite that I own is R-Type III – the Third Lightning
The game that I wish I had most is Space Megafocrce. Sadly, it’s very hard to find and, to me, not worth eBay prices!
Now playing: SNES - Phalanx, R-Type III, Genesis - Bio Hazard Battle, PS3 - Dragon's Crown

Favorite that I own is too tough….. I guess I will go cliche and say super Mario All Stars. So much fun in one cartridge!
what do I wish I owned? At this point that’s really tough since I’ve had my collection complete for a couple of years now. The One that is STILL eluding me is a copy of Star Ocean (reproduction) nobody seems to be willing to do it now. I should have bought it when i had the chance lol!

Congrats on completing your collection! Does this mean that you have Space Megaforce?
I’ve “completed” my collection for the time being as well; not so much because I own everything I would want, but rather that I would prefer to focus on playing what I have then actively collecting (which can be very time consuming).
Too bad about Star Ocean! I guess the Star Ocean franchise is still obscure enough that it doesn;t get much attention in the reproduction community? Or is there some technical factors at play that make it an especially tough reproduction?

Oh Yeah…. It’s tied with Axelay as my favorite shooter on the system.
Star Ocean Has a special chi that UI believe can only come from SFA2 and SO. So it’s expensive to make ans NO ONE is willing to do it anymore!
Still, one day one will surface and I WILL NOT CARE WHAT IT COSTS LoL!!!

Awesome about Space Megaforce! Compile definitely knows how to make a great shooter. Too bad the whole Aleste series has gotten very expensive
There aren’t too many vertical shooters on the SNES as well (SM, Firepower 2000 and 1/2 of Axelay are the only ones that come to mind). Hence why I would have loved for a Toaplan shooter or two to have come to the SNES.
Had no idea Star Ocean had a special chip. Was it used mainly for enhanced graphics?

My favorite game that I own is Super Punch Out. That game has a endless supply of replayablity for me. Even after mastering the game, I want to play it again and again to beat my best times.
For the game I wish I could own, I’m going to say the Clock Tower game. I’ve been highly interested in the game, but just haven’t splurged for it yet. Some day though.

Great choices!
Clock Tower seems like a game that is very much ahead of its time.
Did you try the Punch-Out remake? I found it to be a lot of fun, though it was a little lame they barely added any new fighters.

Yeah Super Metroid is incredible. The gameplay, graphics and soundtrack are all very high quality. I like the music in Brinstar a heck of a lot.
I don’t really have a favourite that I own as I’m always trying to discover others it’s quite hard to naiil down. But I suppose for nostalgia’s sake, which is partly a reason of playing the games and collecting for the system, I would have to say Secret Of Mana is pretty special to me.
If I could own another SNES title that is wishful and probably beyond my means at this point in time I’d like Harvest Moon.

The best thing about SM is speed running once you master the stuff Samus can do!!! It is downright AMAZING how much stuff is in that game that you don’t even NEED in order to beat it, but is there if you want to do it, thereby opening up entire portions of the game early.
how fast can you complete it, RBT?

Super Metroid is another game I wish I still owned.
It’s a classic in every sense of the word. What’s strange to me is that Nintendo themselves don’t seem to get what makes the game so special (perhaps the late Gunpei Yokoi did).
Metroid Zero mission came close to capturing the magic of Super, but it’s overly linear structure takes away some of the Metroid-feel (to be fair, they may have been trying to make the game more appropriate for the handheld market).
The original Metroid Prime is still the closest thing we’ve gotten to a true follow-up to Super Metroid. Despite knocking it out of the park with their first effort, Retro Studios failed to really improve upon the original Prime with its 2 sequels.
I guess what I’m getting at is that we really should cherish Super Metroid, since we may never have a sequel that will top it.

We all have the buying power and have access to databases and sites where games we never knew existed yet some games are financially prohibitive due to a low print run and/or high demand etc. but I take your point. With careful study, a good amount of patience and a strong will it’s quite possible to save up and get the elusive games you desire.

There are also games where it’s not an issue of money. If only…..
Star Ocean on SNES in English is a prime example of a game that is damn near impossible to find even if you have the funds to get it.
Project N will be a low-print run and will also likely be impossible once they are sold out.
On these games you have to be in exactly the right place at the right time, on top of having the money on hand to get the winning bid.
……………..Which is why I encourage collectors new to the hobby to have a Retro fund for when these events occur. My Tosonoma win was a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence! That’s another one you hardly see out of Japan!

You won that game…. I have posted a link to one I was following in the “A Site We May All Find Useful” Topic. It went for big bucks. It’s one of the hidden gems I’ve been after for a while.

I won mine a couple years back. Even then I spent about 170 dollars on it!!
They don’t show up often, and when they do, you have to be ready!
That is why I always tell collectors to set funding aside like you would for any other hobby. It really helps.
Right now I have MORE than enough if Star Ocean English ever surfaces.

Probably the game I’ve played the most has been U.N. Squadron/Area 88. That was one of the first games I ever got for my SNES. Probably the game I want to get the most right now, but is pricey, is the second Kiki Kaikai/Pocky & Rocky game.
So Space Megaforce goes for a lot these days? I recently bought the Japanese version, Super Aleste, for not a whole lot of money in Tokyo a few years back. I think I may have given my US Megaforce version to my friend, though.
