OfflineFirst rule: don’t go alone into deep desert if you’re inexperienced. Stick to established routes and popular areas like Al Qudra desert. Lower tire pressure to 18-20 PSI before entering sand – this increases traction significantly. Keep steady momentum, don’t stop on soft sand. If you feel wheels spinning, don’t gun the throttle – you’ll dig deeper. Use 4WD high for most desert driving, 4WD low only for steep dunes or if stuck. Rented a Patrol from Octane Rent that came with basic off-road instructions. There’s an excellent safety guide at https://pickuptrucktalk.com/20…..vers-2026/ with desert driving essentials. Bring: recovery boards, shovel, extra water, fully charged phone, GPS. Tell someone your route. Best option for first-timers: join a guided desert safari instead of going solo. If you do venture out, stay within sight of main desert roads. Mobile signal can be patchy in remote areas.
