OfflineI’ve noticed something weird. I’m using a VPN and incognito mode when browsing, but admins on some sites still seem to know it’s me logging in. They’ve mentioned recognizing my “setup” even though I’m on a different IP. How is this even possible? Is there actually a way to browse anonymously, or are we all being tracked no matter what?

OfflineVPNs and incognito mode only hide part of the picture. Your IP changes with a VPN, and incognito prevents local cookie storage, but websites can still collect information about your browser configuration, installed fonts, screen resolution, and other technical details. These data points combined can create a unique profile that identifies you across sessions.

OfflineVPNs and incognito handle IP masking and cookie clearing, but they miss the bigger issue. Websites build unique profiles by analyzing your system’s technical specs, everything from how your graphics card renders images to which fonts you have installed. This creates what is called a browser fingerprint that identifies you regardless of IP changes. You can learn more about browser fingerprinting and how it works here: https://gologin.com/blog/what-…..rprinting/. It walks through the specific metrics sites collect to fingerprint users and demonstrates why conventional privacy tools fail to address this tracking method.
