OfflineNowadays the Batman Arkham games give players the closest feeling to being in the shoes of the Caped Crusader. Before that though, Batman Returns gave gamers a pretty good rendition of what it’s like to be Gotham City’s hero. Check out the review here.

OfflineThis is a brilliant game. People sometimes say “wheres the 2 player option?” Well where was Batman’s buddy in the film, nowhere because he was solo. As a scrolling fighter the addition of 2 players is always welcome but this game seems to overcome what should be quite a big problem within this genre of game. By creating an atmosphere not unlike the film, coupled with the amazing graphics, sound & playability Konami have excelled in making this one of the best fighters on the system and if you happen to be a lone SNES gamer yourself this is the perfect game to introduce yourself to the genre. A highlight of mine is when you grab an enemy and can actually throw him into the scenery of the background! Top stuff.

A 2 player option really would have added to the game, though you’re right, that would probably be straying a little too far from the movie license. The Tim Burton Batman movies had great games all around.
Would have been neat to see Konami do a 2-player (Batman & Robin) beat ’em up in the Batman universe but using the comic book license (or perhaps the animated series) instead.
Now playing: SNES - Phalanx, R-Type III, Genesis - Bio Hazard Battle, PS3 - Dragon's Crown
