If you would have told me the top grossing film in 1990 would be about a kid outsmarting a couple a bumbling crooks at every turn, I wouldn’t have believed you. But can that translate into a good game? Find out here.

sull56ivan2010, do you recommend the Genesis version? What about that version makes it stand out?
Yes, I recommend the Genesis version. There is a Game Gear version similar to that one. What helps those versions is you’re not just saving your home. You’re saving the entire neighborhood. Remember that in the movie, there’s nobody around. You can lay down traps anywhere in a house (You can gain traps outside in the Game Gear version). There are two modes of difficulty which includes an expert mode that randomizes where the Bandits go, adding a unique play every time. You can assemble weapons such as an electrical grenade, snowball bazooka, and a sonic wave gun. That’s what makes it stand out among the licensed games. Kudos to the developer and Sega for making it.
For the most part, I would recommend the 16-bit versions of Home Alone.

Ok, thanks. I looked at a Youtube video of the Genesis one yesterday and it looks pretty good. The overall comments on that page seem positive of it too. I might just purchase that in the near future.
I just naturally assumed if one version of a Home Alone wasn’t very good, then the other versions are probably the same. Thank you for an informative review.
