Heralded as one of the better shooters that dared to go 3D in a 2D world, Star Fox captured many gamers attention in the 90’s. Read the review to see if it stood the test of time.

I could never get into Star Fox; always felt too much like a tech demo.  Amazing music though.

To me, there is really only one good game in the whole franchise; Star Fox 64!

Now playing: SNES - Phalanx, R-Type III, Genesis - Bio Hazard Battle, PS3 - Dragon's Crown

I’ve never had the opportunity to play the original Star Fox, but I appreciate the way it displayed the power of the SNES.

Currently looking for the following SNES games:

EarthBound

Final Fantasy II (Final Fantasy IV)

Secret of Mana

Illusion of Gaia

Super Castlevania IV

Super Mario RPG

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

 Zombies Ate My Neighbors

TMNT IV

Contra III

It’s cheap enough to take a chance on these days; around $10 to $15

Yeah, the graphics really aged bad.

Good thing that the gameplay didn’t!  It’s still asolid rail-shooter with many novel concepts.  But I too liked 64 better.

I’m on the other side of the fence with this one. I loved Star Fox, beat it multiple times in the ninties. But I just couldn’t get into Star Fox 64. I’m not sure why. I’m planning on getting it again though to see if my perception of it has changed.

the installment on the Nintendo 64 was definitely better than this 1. I just couldn’t get into this 1 is much as the other 1. honestly there are very few games that have aged poorly from the Super Nintendo.. but I do think this is 1 of them in my opinion

I didn’t get to play much today, but I think it’s fun enough.  The graphics have not aged well at all, though.

Currently looking for the following SNES games:

Chrono Trigger

EarthBound

Final Fantasy II (Final Fantasy IV)

Secret of Mana

Illusion of Gaia

Super Castlevania IV

Super Mario RPG

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

It’s funny how quick we were to abandon 2D gaming in the late 90’s, given how terrible virtually all early 3D games look today.  I think the Dreamcast is the first largely 3D system where the graphics look at least “OK” even in hindsight.

That’s especially funny when you look at SNES 2d graphics and they still look great.

EarthBound

Final Fantasy II (Final Fantasy IV)

Secret of Mana

Illusion of Gaia

Super Castlevania IV

Super Mario RPG

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

2D graphics are pretty timeless and the SNES is pretty close to the pinncale of SD 2D sprite graphics (Saturn and Dreamcast are better).

Yes, the game hasn’t aged well graphic wise at all. Mario Kart still looks good though!

That gives me an interesting idea for a forum topic (or article) what are the best looking SNES games today (in 2013)?

My initial top 3 would be Chrono Trigger, Yoshi’s Island and Super Metroid, though I’d have to give this some thought.
