I bought six consoles on eBay to repair and sell. I haven’t gotten a chance to open them up yet, as the screwdrivers that I ordered are still coming in the mail. Anyway, when I opened the box, I found that one of the consoles had huge holes in both sides. I do not have the pieces that broke off. It won’t sell very well if it has those holes in it. Any ideas?

Sorry for the poor quality.

It looks like it would be very hard to fix those holes in any instance, but particularly hard for the first one because of where the hole is. Look at this video and see if it gives you any ideas:

The video is about repairing a boat, but what he’s doing might work with a game console as well. If you try this with a SNES, make sure you remove all the components from inside first!

Or you could always use that one for spare parts, or tell the seller and perhaps get a partial refund.

If anyone has any knowledge with this, please chime in.

There are a lot of options when it comes to repairing holes in plastic (use a plastic repair kit, plastic welder, etc.).

You can always try a simple repair kit, such as Plast Aid: http://www.plast-aid.com/

You may wish to use this as an opportunity to apply a custom paint job to the SNES, to avoid having the repaired spot sticking out.

As Masamune said, you may also want to contact the seller, as they should have disclosed the condition of the consoles you were buying.

Good luck!

Thank you guys! I will try this stuff. Custom paint sounds like a good idea! Thanks!

You’re welcome and good luck!

If you end up doing a custom paint job, please share some pics with us when it’s finished.
