Hello all! I tried to scour the forums to find anyone posting a similar or same problem occurring, to which I found none. Sorry if I overlooked it and was posted elsewhere. This problem is literally the reason I’ve come to this forum. Here is the issue:
A few years ago I picked up a super nintendo gaming console with 2 controllers and cords except for the power cord, the DC adapter. (or is it AC? I’m not an electrician I don’t know the difference) I was able to order the needed cord via ebay maybe, can’t remember for sure. I arrived, I hooked it up, and success! I was showing my 5 year old the ropes and barrels in donkey Kong country. The console got played with every now an them for the following year or so with no problems, with multiple games. Oh, one thing I forgot to add, some games get stuck because the eject button got stuck and I kind of sorta broke some small plastic piece, but that was right out the gate and it worked fine from then on out. I do think there may have been a time or 2 my son forgot to turn it off and days later I noticed the red power light being on. Now I can’t tell ya the last time it was played or turned on, but it’s been awhile. Just a few days ago, I wanted to co op with my son on DK, and plugged everything in, hit the switch, red light came briefly on then went out. Tried doing all things I could think of, changed outlets or power source, unplugged everything from every end and plugged back in, nothing made the red light go on at all anymore except for when power cord wasn’t plugged in at all and I hit the switch did that little red power light blink on and back off. From the light troubleshooting research I did, the culprit seems to be the power cord or adapter. And I guess my console is a European model? Which I kind of don’t believe. And I’m having a hard time accepting the possibility of the power cord because why would it have worked for so long? Maybe do they just go out sometimes? Thus why I’m here. If you’ve made it this far into my long winded novel w a back story and plot twist, thank you for your time. Please any ideas or if you or someone has had the same issue, what prognosis can’t you tell me? Any and all ideas, comments, opinions and suggestions are welcomed. Shame on you if you slip in any misinformation or misleading tips. Thanx!!
