Strange Problem With Console|Technical Corner|Forum|SNES HUB

Hello, I just had a strange problem with my SNES. The screen went black in the middle of playing a game. The tv made a popping noise when the screen went dark, and then there were grey vertical lines moving across the black screen. I turned the console off. Now when I turn it on with any game in it (I tried several) there is no picture or sound, just a black screen with white and green flickers. I did a visual inspection of the motherboard, but I did not see any signs of damage. I do not know enough about the hardware to diagnose this problem. Any Ideas?
