The SNES wasn’t home to too many great comic book games, but there are a few gems to be found!

I can’t seem to edit the poll, but I should have included Captain America and the Avengers.

Not really played many of them. Capt.America & the Avengers is a fun game but it’s not good if I’m honest. Maximum Carnage I found was very average. I’ll go with Batman Returns because it’s a brilliant game despite being only 1player.

War of the Gems is a 1-on-1 fighter is it not? Is that any good and how does it compare to others of the same ilk?

I’ve ordered for X Men, because it really is an awesome game.

War of the Gems is a 1-on-1 fighter on most systems, though the SNES version is an action / beat ’em up style game; not unlike X-Men Mutant Apocalypse.

Cap & the Avengers is objectively a mediocre to bad game, but there’s just something about it that makes it a blast to play; flaws and all.

< Been playing a bit of Cap & his Avengers today. God those graphics are so 8-bit, were they like that in the Arcades, I can’t remember. The action is actually pretty good and chaotic but the collision detection can lead to some cheap health loss. In either case it remains fun.

The game is more fun then it has any right to be, given its problems.

I remember the game didn’t look that great even in the arcades (when compared to some of Konami’s best beat ’em ups).  This was around the time when arcades had the 6-player X-Men game, which looked MUCH better.

Cap America also has some great Engrish translations throughout the game that add to the comedy of it all. Some of them are just terrible. I wish Konami would of ported The Simpsons 1991 arcade game to the SNES.

Konami left a lot of beat ’em ups in the arcade (Bucky O Hare, X-Men, Simpsons, etc.).

Probably due to licensing issues…

“Batman Forever”, eh? I thought it was one of the worst videogames I’ve ever played, but if you like it, Rush, I’m okay with that.

Never said I liked it, just trying to be inclusive in my poll!  You’re correct though, it’s pretty awful.

“Batman Forever”

Yup.   The only shitty thing about having the depth of games that the SNES has is that some of them are bound to be Terrible.

For an even worse (yet more humorous {does that make it better?}) superhero game, try Captain Novolin!

Okay, I see where you’re coming from. But I figure somebody somewhere likes it, anyway.

Would either of you consider reviewing “Batman Forever”, Rush or Mongunzoo? I would, but I submitted three other reviews and an article already and I don’t want to overwhelm Masamune. I might look at “Captain Novolin” down the road, though.

Here’s a thought I had: would “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV” count in this poll?

Don’t worry about overwhelming him, We need toe content and I would eventually like to try and convince him to go to 2 features a week! But we will need more content for that to happen.

As for batman forever, HAVENT I SUFFERED ENOUGH LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!  I already did Pit Fighter and Bebes Kids! I suppose I’ve got a copy somewhere….

BTW, what reviews did you submit?  Are you referring to Aladdin and U.N Squadron or are these new ones? I hope you continue as I enjoyed your Super Star Wars review immensely.

I submitted reviews of “U.N. Squadron”, “Aladdin”, and “Gradius III”, in that order, along with a box-art article I proposed weeks ago. It’s been almost a month since I submitted the last review, and because my “Super Star Wars” review went up faster than these, I thought Masamune had too much to deal with right now. When they do go up, I can review “Batman Forever” if you don’t want to.

I do want to continue, really. Thanks for your concern.

That Box Art piece sounds great!  A lot to work with whether you’re praising or skewering (or both)!

I never know what I’m going to review next with over 300 games to choose from and my collection is always growing!  Right now I’m just working through my favorites and doing the occasional Article or user request ala Batman TAS.

Rest assured I WILL get to Batman Forever at some point.  As a member of the site if you would like to see my take on it I will get it done ASAP! Otherwise I won’t lose sleep over not doing it until a second opinion (if you really want to do it).

Looking forward to all those reviews!

I’ve got a Final Fight review that is basically done….just need to figure out how to get some screenshots (might have to use an emulator).

Next in my review queue is Tetris/Dr Mario and Super R Type!

Oh, I love “Super R-Type”! I can’t wait to see that review, even if it’s less than positive.

As for screenshots… I think I read somewhere that Masamune takes pictures from gameplay videos, like on YouTube. Do you use Windows? If so, you can use the Snipping Tool to get pictures from videos, as a last resort or something.
