I dont really have a favourite or a least favourite one, but in general japanese art is always more interesting than western counterparts of the same game. This goes for all systems i buy games for, at least retro ones.
I have Asperger's Syndrome, which means i can come across as rigid and overly argumentative. Please try and look past this and contact me if you have a problem with what/how i type. I don’t have a best Box Art right now, but this is one of the worst for me:
It’s a shame too especially if you consider the Japanese box art for this game.

Haha i actually don’t mind the fashionista’s in their leather jackets but couldn’t they be arsed to do more then a crap prison-like building and some generic font spread across the rest of it.
tkbryant you didn’t break the rules, like i said you can put any region of snes game on here, the reason being is that for the most the jap box art blows the euro/us artwork out the water. I really like that Treasure of the Rudras box, its aesthetically perfect in proportion to the box size and i dig that demon-like skyline with the eyes. That US Contra box is a great example of what could of been if all US boxes were of the same calibre, its detailed and very well designed. Ive seen the Phalanx one before and it still makes me laugh.

Yeah I figured that out later but it was too late for me to edit the post and yeah that Phalanx box is soooo ridiculous!

That is horrible… Then again alot of US box art is, and subseqiuently european.. Japanese box art is usually excellent. If the game comes from japan, why change it?? Much the same if the game comes from the west. Why change it for japan? Are people really THAT influenced on what a game box LOOKS like in order to buy it?
I mean, ive seen horrible box art for good games, and i will get them regardless. Also, if i get a choice to get a Japanese rpg, in original box, or a translated US/PAL release, ill get the latter even if it has poor box art, simply because i want to be able to actually understand what im playing as well.

Yeah, you’d think their marketing dept would have said the name is Brawl Brothers, shouldn’t we show more than one dude on the cover?
