I’ve been thinking about it myself as I’m looking for new games to play with my friends to add to the collection.
And if you’d be so kind to give an explanation why it’s your favourite that would be great!
Since I find it very hard to pick just one so I made a top 5 !

5) Turtles in Time
The Turtle craze is one I remember very fondly. We all had our favourite turtle (mine was Donatello) and watched the episodes on tv
Turtles II on the nes was great but the snes version is truly something special. A real fast action fighting game that is beautifully developed and never bores me. The colors are amazing and the music makes you sit up straight on the couch. Shredder is your enemy, you all know how it’s going to end for him but you don’t mind if it’s the same old story again because this time you travel in time and that’s just awesome! You get to see the prehistoric age, the wild west, a big pirate ship etc. All your favourite baddie’s will make an appearance and the levels are interactive. There’s just never a dull moment! This game can be a simple button bashing game but it has so much more to offer , if you let it. A true classic.

4) Street Fighter II turbo
Best fighting game on the system! Who hasn’t played tournaments with friends and a table full of snacks? This game is so well developed, it amazes me everytime I play it. Perfectly balanced, great graphics, wonderful colors and adjustable speed…just perfect. I do have a soft spot for Street Fighter II since I did beat that game on the hardest level when I was just a kid, but Turbo is the better game with more options. You can play the bosses from Street Fighter II. You can play the two same characters without entering a code like you had to do in Street Fighter II, plus the big difference is the change in speed. This really makes this game the best Street Fighter on the snes I think. If you had to choose one, go turbo. Super Street Fighter II is also great but lacks something in my opinion. The extra characters are good but don’t add that much to the game to me. The sounds aren’t that great compared to the other two and it lacks the speeds turbo has. If only Capcom had released Super Street Fighter II Turbo …one can only dream.  However, I still enjoy all three of them so I play them on a regular basis.

3) Super Mario Kart
Racing with one of your buddies in battle mode brings back fond memories, and it still is today! If only this game had the four player option the multitap gives you it would have been perfect! Still I enjoy racing this classic and it makes a solid 3rd spot on the list

2) Micro Machines
A four player game where you can drive miniature vehicles acros everyday objects…that just has to be fun!
And it is because it’s quick and easy to understand. Drive, steer and hope you’re not the first going of the screen! Two player mode is great but 4 player(s) is fantastic! Again, the multitap inclusion makes this game rank nr 2 in my book! However, it’s not as fun as numéro uno 😉

. . .

1) Super Bomberman!
I only discovered this game last year. Haven’t played it back in the day but man I wish I had! This game is so much fun. It’s simple to understand for beginners and even girlfriends like it! 🙂 Combine this with a Hudson multitap and it’s four player mayhem! This game is so great that my friends want to play it everytime they come over instead of the new xbox 360 games. Now to me, that is one hell of a multiplayer game! Each of the Super Bomberman’s include something new, like new stages, new items etc. Choose any one of them!

Those are my top 5. I do feel the need to list more games but I wonder what you guys think! Maybe you can include games I haven’t mentioned already? I hope to see a nice list of multiplayer games so that I can pick up a game I haven’t played before. Keep me posted!

I’ll add NBA Jam Tournament Edition. It has the ability to support 4 players! I’m not really a huge basketball fan, but playing this game with 3 friends is a blast. It’s a fantastic guy’s night out kind of game that gets addictive and competitive really fast!

Won’t argue with any of them, they’re all top games! I won’t repeat those mentioned and i can’t really come up with a ‘top’ list, im terrible at deciding absolute faves which is why i can’t do that Mt Rushmore one. I can however recommend a brilliant fighting game…

Turtles Tournament Fighters : The graphics are very good, nice and vibrant. Backgrounds are some of the prettiest ive seen, there’s always something going on and again its all clean and easy to make out. So, the levels themselves are overall superb, i won’t spoil them but they are a pleasure to play. The roster is also good, there’s plenty of villains you might not know. Apart from the turtles themselves be prepared to fight or choose from the likes of Armaggon, Chrome Dome, Wingnut and the Cyber Shredder plus more! There are two unlockable characters that require little in the way to get them, just a simple button code on the title screen and you can get the evil Rat King and another fighter along with their respective battlegrounds. The music is good but not that memorable so i would say that this is the weakest point about the game. The array of moves is good, each character has a couple more moves then the avg. SFII fighter so its very easy to get into with the added bonus that you have a few more moves available and animation are of the highest standard. A high quality one-on-one fighter, i put it above SF in terms of enjoyment. With two players this is amazing. I won’t add anymore to that, i might even do a proper review of it sometime.

NBA Jam: TE with multitap sounds really fun and turtles tournament even better than street fighter…I have to check that out! 🙂 Contra III is Probotector in Europe right? I really enjoyed Probotector for the Nes back in the day. Never got the chance to play the Snes version. If it is as much fun as the.Nes version I’m in for a treat! These are all great games to add to my list! Took the Snes with me on vacation and Bomberman is most played and enjoyed at the moment 😀 Also finished a late night Super Double Dragon game with a friend while the others already went to bed and we had a blast ! The Snes steals many hearts 🙂 love to hear about other great multiplayer titles! Thanks!

Yes I did! We’re in a cabin in the woods and it’s pretty bad weather here so in the evenings it’s good entertainment! “Super Smash TV” last night was old skool fun! 🙂 It gets pretty difficult on hard and goves you this claustrophobic feeling when those enemies corner you!

Also check out Pocky and Rocky 1 & 2. Those are a lot fun with two players that I will do reviews on in the next few months.

Pocky & Rocky yes I’ve heard they are very good. Would be very interested in reading a review of those two games. Is there a a lot of difference between the two games in gameplay etc or is it more of the same? The games area bit more difficult to fibd and go for higher prices…I figure if they are mentioned that often they are worth the time and cash! Just bought a cart in great condition of the game Zombies after reading the review on this site! Heard a lot of good things about that game also and can’t wait to check it out! 🙂 I’ve made a list of games to get and it will take some time to find them in good condition and for a good price but I enjoy the search! They don’t have to come complete in.box. A clean cartridge in.good condition is difficult enough for me to find but a great way to expand the “collection” 🙂

There isn’t a big difference in gameplay between the two. I’ll go into specifics in my reviews for them.

I’m glad you’ve decided to make a purchasing decision based on one of the reviews here! That makes me feel good! Please tell us if you like playing the game!

Oh yes, and I have a feeling I will be making a whole lot more purchases based on the reviews here on this site! It feels like I have a complete new gaming library to discover, and it makes me wonder why I waited so long to start buying “new” games for my Snes. It’s so much more fun to find old games which are new to me and I still like to play and discover. These reviews really help and the time and effort you guys spent on writing these reviews is very much appreciated! By me, and undoubtly, by many others browsing this site! Now I need to find a nice way to store all these cartridges so they will stay in the condition they are now in. I use a softcase black gaming bag by Nintendo which holds 12 cartridges and I can lay four on top of those 12. I haven’t found any of these on the net. Maybe I should start a topic and post the picture there for further discussing gaming storage…

Just checked Zombies to see how it plays and it is indeed a fun game! I was just testing it myself and before I knew it I was playing over an hour. Have to play this game with a friend soon! Also finally found Pocky & Rocky 1 and 2 for a great price! The first one has been a bit harder to find for me but I.m glad I did because that game is really amazing! From what I.ve seen so far I like the first one better than the second one. The sliding ability is really useful and for some reason they did not include this function in the second game. Still glad to have them both and will see lot’s of play I’ sure! Thanks for the tip!

If you’re into RPG games then Secret of Mana is great with a friend. Usually RPG games are meant to be played alone, but in Secret of Mana you can play with a friend. It’s pretty fun to experience a RPG game with a buddy.

Also, Goof Troop is a great puzzle adventure that has multiplayer. Nothing like high-fiving after beating a hard puzzle. :)

Definitely reccomend Secret of Mana WITH A FRIEND.  It’s a blast that way but alone I am struggling to complete it!  Is it just me?!?  It just seems more frustrating then I remember it in my youth…

I actually recommend not playing Secret of Mana with a friend. I played with my sister years ago, and I was so frustrated by the experience, I sold it with playing it less than a hour!

Well, so far it’s gone good with my GF.  But who knows, how itll end up, huh?

I honestly do not recall the game being this clunky when I first played it long ago…  Now Secret of Mana 2…THATS A GAME!!  If only it were as well known…

Secret of Mana is on the list of games to get! I think you’re right nd it will be fun playing with a friend. I believe it also support the multitap right?? Playing it with three player would be really an experience! :) Goof Troop , I remember the serie. Shall take a look at that game also. I mean, who doesn’t like high fives!? :) It’s strange though, I love rpg’s but I have never played them on the snes(!) Would be nice to see a top 5 list of your favorites.

My top five SNES RPG’s are:

Illusion of Gaia

Final Fantasy III

Chrono Trigger

Secret of Mana

Terranigma (only released in Japan and Europe)

These are in no particular order. It’s very hard for me to try and figure out which one is better than the other. They’re all wonderful games that are among the best of the best. To me, the SNES era was kind of the golden age of RPG’s. Some would argue that the PSX has better RPG’s, but I feel that the SNES has the edge.

Anyway! Back on topic. Check out Battletoads Double Dragon for great co-op action. :)

Secret of Mana … my favourite snes rpg of all time. Possibly my favourite snes game as forever will it hold sentimental value to me as it was THEE game that held me captivated for days on end. I wish i could erase my memory of the game and play through it again without prior knowledge. If you’ve not played it your in for a treat. I’d recommend going through it on single-player if it’s your first time.
