Yes Secret of Mana 2 was a japanese only release under the name Seiken Densetsu 3(Holy Sword Legend). Like the first SoM, the emphasis is around action roleplaying – the same excellent ring commands and real-time battles with improved storyline, a higher number of characters to choose from resulting in different endings, vast improvement in graphics and really memorable soundtrack. It’s such a waste that no english language cart was ever officially introduced, It really does bug me when I see games like this that in an age where 2d rpg’s were at their finest we didn’t see more of them. Like Masamune said; get a reproduction. They shouldn’t be too hard to find and I can recommend getting any non-english rpg on repro cart as you will get the full story and surely that’s all part of the fun of role-play.

Those reproductions. What are they exactly? And are they still buying made today or are they games that have been made back in the day?

I’m wondering since I hate to buy a game that stops working after a year or so…

I looked Secret of Mana 2 up and it’s about 60 Euros incl shipping. Would be a shame if that cart stopped working for that price.

But if it’s the only way to enjoy these games in English than it’s probably money well spent either way. So many games yet to choose from. I need to get the Secret of Mana first, then I can think of getting the reproduction of Secret of Mana 2 :)

http://www.gamereproductions.c…..;page_id=5 He’s reliable and offers a guarantee.

Ok in a nutshell they take donor carts, basically crap sports games etc. and replace them with the roms already available on the net but now they are soldered onto your snes cart and people like us can finally play them on the console they were intended for evil-grin Good times indeed, only downside is the price but at least they are now available.

Tom, If you buy from reputable dealers then you will have no problems.  Do not get ripped off like I did early into this hobby!  I bought Terranigma for 90 dollars!!!!  go to RetroUSB or Gamereproductions for a guarenteed quality.  They are covered with a lifetime warranty!

It’s been mentioned on the forum before, but Battle Cross is great fun with using the multitap. The game is import only, but no real Japanese language is required. The main menu is in Japanese, but you can get around that with just memorization.

Battle Cross looks similar to Super Off Road doesn’t it only more colorful and varied. I imagine 2 or players is a great laugh.

Micro Machines is a pretty good racer too.

BS Out of Bounds Golf! Hands down…

Also, of course, Super Bomberman (games) and NBA Jam TE. Slam Masters is also a hoot with 3 like-minded buds

Legend of the Mystical Ninja is ridiculously fun with 2 players. Gotta love that game, miles ahead of most games produced at the time and deserving of more praise so I’m praising it now smile

Have you played the other games in the series? I’m curious about the ones that didn’t make it to America. Post your thoughts if you’ve played them.

2 is fantastic and introduces Impact to the series!

3 is hard to play without knowledge of Japanese, so I have yet to try it

i have also yet to try 4, but you do not have to know Japanese to play it, or so I hear.

1 and 2 are some of the best platformers on the console.

Nope sorry guys. The only other Goemon game I’ve played are the N64 ones and dare I say they save that machine from higher criticism. The 2nd one for the 64 harks back to the 2D days of the SNES games in approach and is great fun with 2players also. However you are talking SNES and it’s only the first I’ve had the pleasure of playing. I know that Goemon 2 is a side-scrolling action game not like the first. Goemon 3 is a more top-down Zelda:LttP inspired adventure game with more puzzles etc but you will need a guide or emulation to enjoy it. Goemon 4 KiraKira Dancer goes back to its root with the traditional mix of light adventure mixed in with the side scrolling action as was the first in the SNES series. Unofficially I call it Goemon 5, Soreyuke Ebisumaru Karakuri – Goemon no Nazo is a puzzle game by Konami and part of the series you could say and worth checking out.
