Probably yard sales, retro stores and craigslist if not other websites but Steve will give you the correct answer wink

And on that note i wish there was a craiglist variant in the UK. It could be a fun race against time and also break up the monotony of buying online for my retro gaming needs.

Heres a few games ive bought in the last couple of weeks.

Shin Momotaro Densetsu in amazing condition with map for $1.20. You don’t see this come up that often so i was happy to add this to my Hudson stuff. For some reason all the other Momotaro games are party/board genres but this is an rpg.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3307…..1439.l2649

WakaTaka Ozumo in v.good con for $1.50. Seller says there’s abit of damage but i can’t see any on inspection so took a gamble and got it for peanuts anyway. Its a 1-on-1 fighter based on the awesome japanese sport of, yep you guessed it, Sumo!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3209…..1439.l2649

Casper in v.good con. Bought his last one in current stock with an offer of $10.25. This is the KSS jap version which is completely different to the inferior US version. This is actually an isometric adventure/puzzle game released late in 1997.

Only game i knew of those was Casper, but good prices on the other two, looked in very good condition too. I have no idea what games they are, other than one obviously being a sumo game, or how they play. But for the price you cant complain even if they suck. Good finds.

This arrived in the post today. http://www.genkivideogames.com…../shvcpaajj

Genki’s little description is honest but there’s an independant review from someone here. Also a few pics and a gameplay video. http://www.gamefaqs.com/snes/5…..iew-104425

Arrived in like new condition, you can be sure that when you buy from genki that it will arrive recorded and expertly packed. One of the best ive bought from.

I wish i had the energy to either learn japanese, or the energy to use different translation guides to be able to play all the rpg’s which never saw a translation.. So many out there..

True there are so many, perhaps too many. I don’t have many jap rpg’s, most of mine are in english thank god but those i have that are japanese are quite obscure late releases or specifically jp region only. Using a guide isn’t too bad though it can be annoying when your trying to remain engrossed in the onscreen action and having to refer to it. The only ones ive actually made an effort to play through with the assistance of a guide are GOD, Maka Maka and Gunman’s Proof though the latter is more action-adventure then pure jrpg. I plan on giving Arabian Nights a proper playthrough in the coming weeks as it does look pretty special from what ive seen so far.

I know that Mongunzoo has suggested someone for repro carts, but I found another seller that will sell to you complete ( with box and manual) and sealed games that he created. The website is here: http://www.timewalkgames.com/ When he opens up for business again, I’m going to give him a try and tell you guys of my impressions.

I was in Tokyo this past weekend. I was mainly shopping for Sega Saturn games, but I did buy Otoboke Ninja Colosseum for the SFC. It’s an amusing Bomberman clone that’s rather unique. It cost 2100 yen at Mandarake in Akihabara. I also found Gokujou Parodius for only 2,000 at Friends, but I was running out of money by that time. I’ll get that one the next time I’m in Akihabara.

You can see a video of Otoboke here.

The idea is fantastic! They make their own games! :) Do you have more information? Zelda Paralell Worlds for example. How can they create a new game? Or do they mix existing material to create “new” dungeons etc. Also, I thought I read here somewhere that these carts do not have a long lifespan and that they can be bad for your system. But nevertheless, a superb effort and a very interesting idea!

Greg
I checked the link you gave us of that Bomberman clone. Looks funny and worth a try!

I had Zelda Parallel Worlds and sold it, i made huge progress, sometimes for hours yet the damn thing wouldn’t save properly despite me getting well into the game. Hugely frustrating because it was otherwise very good.

Gokujou Parodius is ridiculously awesome. I like being either Goemon or the flying angelic pig Michael. Its fun to the max, Parodius games are the best shooter’s ever! Otoboke Ninja Colosseum is fairly scarce and can command a high price, you did well bagging that too.

Oh and the fact you can nip off to Akihabara to do your shopping …raging Lucky man! wink

Tom, they don’t actually create brand new games, no. They take already existing game programs and put them in cartridge form and then sell them. This seller I pointed out goes the extra mile and provides a custom box, manual and poster, then seals it.

Wow, that Clock Tower game sure looks awesome! Is this the same group who had made the translated SFC Star Ocean into a SNES cartridge? I saw that once upon a time online.

No, I believe this is a different group. TimeWalk games doesn’t have Star Ocean in their selection.

Anyone could do Star Ocean with the translated rom though. It does require a special cartridge though i believe with a special chip.

Made some SFC nice purchases in recent days, some you will know and some you won’t.

Well in light of a recent discussion on the Super Game Boy I have gone and bought one with both Link’s Awakening and Revenge of the Gator, looking forward to playing some GB Zelda on a bigger screen.

As for the actual Super Famicom games, well I went a bit crazy on the side-scrolling beat-’em-ups but had the funds to pick up Fushigi no Dungeon 2: Fuurai no Shiren – a beautiful looking Action-RPG from ChunSoft. Also Hokuto no Ken 5 aka Fist Of The North Star 5 – an RPG by Toei. I wanted a HnK game because I enjoyed the anime and this looked miles better then the pathetic fighters that were HnK 6 and HnK 7 so I thought what the hey and got it.

Sadly I didn’t get my main target of Gourmet Sentai Bara Yarou, someone pipped me to it – damn vultures!

To make up for the loss I went for some others of the same beat-’em-up genre that were also want’s of mine. The original Final Fight – ok its only a single-player but I have FF 2 so just need FF Tough now. Got Captain Commando – yes its mine all nice and complete and at a reasonable price when you consider what it can reach. Knights Of The Round – a holy grail for me, I’ve been after a complete copy of this complete for years for the right price.

Here’s the damage to my wallet for each item then: SuperGB cart £5 // Zelda cart+manual & RotGator cart £4.20 // Fuurai no Shiren complete like new £0.01p wink // HnK 5 complete good con £9.50 // Final Fight complete very good con £10 // Capt Commado complete very good con £51($80) // KotR complete like new £38($60)

Wow. I love the Fist of the North Star anime. I’m still upset that the entire TV series didn’t get English dubbed. How will you play the RPG? With a translation guide?

It’s been a good month for me, considering I just started getting new games for this system!
Thanks to all of you for giving me these tips on which games to get. They are a great succes and also the reviews here on this site are just wonderfully written and really helpful.

I got Zombies! first. Took a while to arrive but was worth the wait!
Tetris Attack is another game I can continue playing for hours! Great fun with a friend as is Zombies! I got the multiplayer/co-op games first since I mostly play woth these retro games with friends.
Pocky & Rocky I & 2 . Number 2 was easy to find on ebay but the first one I had a bit more difficulty with. Until I suddenly found then on a local seller’s site! One and two ! I got them together for 45 usd .And I cleaned them, now they look brand new! All PAL games.
Kirby Superstar(fun pak) complete in box. Bought this one with 10 ntsc games (just loose carts) and fifa 97 cib. The price was so low that I thought it had to be fake bit went with it anyway. Got the package and Kirby is great! The other games are “crap” but seemed fun enough to try out I have a fire converter to play ntsc games on my Pal snes but I only hear the audio of the game. Maybe it’s broken…I gor that one back in ’94.
With all these games I need a place to store them. I found a snes game case. Very vintage stuff. Looks great. So I got that too!
Goof Troop complete is the latest game I got. I think I need to stop getting new games for a sgort time but it’s too much fun searching for new ones! I have trouble posting images here otherwise I’d include pics to show you all some visuals.

I really want to help you resolve your pic upload problem. You know the picture upload button is right above the smiley section, right? Have you only tried to upload pics on the site thru your phone, or have you tried a computer as well? Can you tell me more about it?
