Welcome back John.

I’m looking forward to your take on Super Valis IV.  I also might try reviewing Cybernator when I get around to it, since I see that it’s dropped from your queue.

Now playing: SNES - Phalanx, R-Type III, Genesis - Bio Hazard Battle, PS3 - Dragon's Crown

Welcome back, John. And congratulations on surviving finals! There is nothing quite like the post-coital relief which follows a semester.

I’m looking forward to your SFII review, especially since I’ve been playing it a lot for contrastive content for my Samurai Shodown review. Which is NEARLY submitted.

Antarch, go to town on that Top Gear review! I saw some videos of footage when I was researching for my TGII review. I’d LOVE to see how the two titles compare/contrast, or if it can hold a candle to F-Zero.

Edit: Samurai Shodown submitted & posted. After such an enjoyable experience I’m going to the other end of the spectrum with NCAA Final Four.

John, you’ve done a great job with the Disney+Capcom platformers, but I have a request. Do you mind if I take dibs on reviewing The Lion King? I remember playing it back in the day, and I’ve recently picked up a cart.

No, I don’t mind. I’m Disney-ed out, and I think it’s good that I don’t produce the bulk of this website’s content.

Masa, what say you? I’ve finished my review for my first 1-star game for the site, NCCA Final Four Basketball, and I’m only at about 630 words. Should I extend it to meet the 800 word minimum, or is it ok to go a bit under on the real stinkers?

jrsupermoore,

I would like to keep the standard of 800 words. Thank you.

No problem. There’s always more research to be done, no matter how obscure the title.

Edit: I’ve added a couple paragraphs to the NCAA Final Four Basketball review, and it’s now within the minimum.

Also, The Lion King review has been submitted with screenshots. Now I turn to the very first Madden on console, John Madden Football (1992).

I haven’t really had time to think about that Top Gear review yet but I would probably also like to review Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (1994) by Bandai in the near future if I find some time to do so. I haven’t found the game in the reviews section.. Was anyone planning to review it first?

I wasn’t. Don’t be afraid to rearrange your plans for reviewing if you come up with new ideas.

And neither was I planning to review TG. Since I reviewed the sequel, I’d love someone else to do the original.

Also: John Madden Football review is uploaded with screenshots.

For my next queue I’d like to take on: Summer Olympics, Blues Brothers and PGA Tour Golf.

I’m reviewing Final Fight next. I’ll have to create a new queue after that.

I’ve cancelled the “Zoop” review. There isn’t enough I can think of to say about the game, so I’m moving forward.

But I’ve planned my next set of reviews already, at least.

I picked up Zoop not too long ago. I found it pretty fun, but I can see how you struggled to arrive at a full review’s worth of material, John.

Thank you, jr. In the same regard, I’ve cancelled the “NHL 96” review. I can’t write about sports games that well.

Edit: I can write about sports games to diversify my writing skills, but I shouldn’t have gone to the middle of a franchise to try it. I should go in order when doing a series.

Sports games can be a challenging genre to review. One has to balance writing to sports nuts, those who know nothing about sports, and everyone in between. I’m not sure how well I strike that balance, but it’s an interesting challenge. I’ve reviewed four football games for the site, and it can be difficult to not rehash the same references and terminology. Heaven help me, there are SIX more Madden games to review for the site.

That being said, it’s always helpful to have fresh perspectives. I appreciated Rushdawg’s review of NHLPA Hockey 93. It was to the point and hit all the basics.
